NB v3.62 has a better colo(u)r rendering  than the later version included in nB OS. So I'ld suggest to instal DualOpera then v3.62

My phone doesn't have that option both in the phone 'settings' menu and the organizer time settings menu...<<< Hi Susan, It's an Advanced setting within Date and Time settings.. at least in my T68i J.

Subject: Opera froze Netbook after using Psion Dacom card

I brought a Netbook off e-bay recently (one of the Malaysian ones, it looks like), with a Buffalo wifi card, which works very well at home. I took it to California with me and there was no wifi around, so I connected via dial-up with a Psion Dacom card I was browsing Yahoo with Opera 5.14 when, after a couple of pages, Opera froze. I couldn't close Opera and I couldn't get to the System screen. I pulled the Dacom card -- we had to use the phone for voice -- but the Netbook didn't come back, even though I left it plugged in for several hours (this has worked with other programs in the past). I finally had to do a paperclip reset. Has anyone else had this experience with Opera? What, if anything, did I do wrong, or what should I avoid in the future? Thank for your response.

Subject: GPRS 5MX

Fellow Psionistas:

I have just receivedan offer from T-mobile to try here in the US their GPRS system. As I use the 5mx a lot for mobile e-mail,the option appealed to me instead of using the phone to dialup my isp as GPRS promises faster access (57000 vs 9600).

I have been using GPRS for a couple of weeks, but it seems tome that it is a bit flaky (sometimes you have to try several times to get a successful connection, and other times it seems tobe awfully slow. Is this the general experience?

Also, does anybody know of:

1.- Whether the GPRS settings work when you are roaming in another country (e.g. Europe); and

2.- Whether there is any utility to measure the actual speed of the GPRS connection from the Psion?

Best Regards,

Manuel Campos

Simply pretend you were living in London, UK, and not using DST.

Dear Itamar,

That's a very good Idea from you!

I use a few additional and interesting programs:

Yes, Xerox did use it.

However, on the hardware available at the time Xerox 'productized'

their research, it all worked /painfully/ slowly.  Consequently, it was not a commercial success, and Xerox didn't try again later once

faster hardware was available.

To refute these points:

There SymbianOS phone base is now over 2.3/4 million, with more

devices coming onto the market, and the price points coming

down.  I /don't/ think that this shows 'writing on the wall'.

The Symbian platform is essentially designed to remove any

potential Nokia dependence on Microsoft.

The development toolchain is based on GNU tools, and so are fairly

safe from Microsoft lock-in.  Metrowerks, the current official SDK

suppliers,  are a multi-platform company.

Nokia have recently re-iterated that they are committed to their

Series 80 form factor for the long run.  (This is the display/interface

that the currently available Communicator 9210i/9290 use.)  And

the Series 80 uses native apps, remember?

The best (only?) Jpg viewer app  is MBMView that you can find at Tucows, but sadly not register as the author died aboiut a year ago.

801? Do you mean 802.11b? WiFi is built in the netBook. All you need is a WiFi card. Check out Ian Silvester's FAQ for details on set up:

Answer to: Jim Watson-Gove

Re.: Sheet - Thanks for yr reply. At the moment I am not using any spreadsheet program on my Clie. I just got the MP3 working and am still struggling with the photos. At the moment I will keep my spreadsheets on my capable S7.

Answer to: Mark Deppe

Re. netBook Pro Symbian - Listen, we are all entitled to our opinions. I don't think it will make much difference as Psion have choosen to go a certain way and will not change that. If I would have to make the choice to buy a netBook Pro with Symbian v 7, meaning that all my existing software on my S7 will be unusable, and at a price that is comparible to notebooks and laptops, I would pass. Sorry. And the netBook Pro with Symbian v. 5 will not work as we have been explained.

Re. Apple (OT) - So in the eyes of some it is acceptable to restric tthe competition up front but not in a later stage ? As I said before, I am not a great Microsoft lover myself, but do feel that some of the criticism is unfair.

Answer to: Christopher Holly

Re. What programs am I missing ? - Thanks for the answer. SMTPAuth is a good one but using Compuserve and Freeserve I don't need it at the moment. PDFPrinter, I hardly print out anything from my Psion, I am very much a "screen reader". Psimind I will t y, ExAb I have already Macro and Assistant and how many programs like that can one have ? <G>. And of course, the Editor I do have and forgot to mention (all my old digests are stored in text files via the editor).

I think Opera works better than Web as more and more websites have Java and Web is really getting "old fashioned" now with less and less websites you can read with it. Luach is a program that gives the Jewish Calendar for many years to come together wi h a lot of extra data for the Jewish Lifestyle. Chadis is also interesting for a S7 as instead of just giving the voltage it will show you the total number of hours you are working since the last recharge. So if you know that on average you get 5-1/2 hour out of your battery and you see from Chadis you already worked 4 hours on it, you know how much time you have got left to work. If you don't have electricity near you (traveling, airplane) you can cut back on games and keep spare power to download and re d your email for example.

Fernando, where can one find these games "Millebornes" and "Coffee" ?
