Subject: MSN Messenger for Epoc
I use msn messenger on my pc extensively to communicate via instant messaging. Until recently I used Ruksun software's 'MSN messenger force' on my netbook, and though nothing close to the windows version, it worked fine.
Recently though, it seems that Microsoft must have changed something in their system, as I started receiving a message to update my msn messenger while I was logged in on the netbook, (impossible as the update is only available for windows) and after a week or so, it just stopped working.
I sent an email to Ruksun, but as yet, I've not received a reply :(
Is there any other way I can go around this, or does any one know of any other MSN messenger programme for the netbook?

In the week view you have got the week number, and otherwise there is a macro that will show you the weeknumber as well. Let me know if you need it.
To ALL :
Still available the oldfashioned travelmodem as well as two serial cables for the 5MX/S7/Revo/3C I just found in the office.

NE-2000-based models such as Socket and Silicom should work (Tip : Check for compatibility with iPaq 3600/3700/3800 ,SHARP 5000/5500/5600 and HP Jornada 680/690/710/720/728 I use a Socket LP E in my J680 )

Yup , the N-gage as well as the 6600 have more RAM than the current Communicator and can be used both as serious replacements for even a high-end PDA

Yes , I do understand your qualms but the software compatibility issue will also raise its head with Symbian
IMHO , POS could do a much better job by improving the s3mx ( more RAM , onboard user-accessible flash , Bluetooth , OBEX , better keyboard , touchscreen perhaps ?)
This could be the perfect smartphone companion , it could hold copies of the smartphone's addressbook ,calendar and possibly even the Memo application
Email could be be composed on it , uploaded off-line to the phone and stored there until sending

Personally, I think that a rigorous update of the s3mx is the more promising route , with the 5mx they will sooner rather than later run into both Intellectual Property as well as software compatibility issues
An updated s3mx can be an excellent smartphone companion, especially with the models now arriving in the market

Interesting hypothosis about the mal-formed RPC requests causing the lockups.
Sounds completely plausible to me. Ho hum.
Anyway, thanks for the local call rate ISP numbers but, as stated, these are no use to me because T-Mobile doesn't include 08.. numbers in the free minutes allowance. But the list of ISP is handy nevertheless.

Without wanting to sound like I'm snapping at you - as these lockups do tend to wind me up - of course I tried a simple on/off. I found that Fn+Esc (off) was the only keystroke which worked. When I turned it back on, I could just see the bl nk screen go slightly darker, indicating that it had switched on, but that's the only life I got. I think you were definitely more 'lucky' than I was.

It is addictive! That is why I wrote it! I wonder which is the most addictive game???

I was recently reading a article about Nokia ceo of development and was very impressed by two things, He comes from
Sun Microsystems, yea unix, and he is not afraid to go toe to toe with microsoft. Java devices are becoming very popular
and its extremely portable, again Psion was just ahead of its time. I still think the planet is getting wise to the lame OS
of microsoft and starting to look to new options. My Netbook, plus all my other Psion devices are for me a much better
fit, besides a spreadsheet on my Dell Axim is like trying to read a postage stamp.....old eyes.

Subject: Database file
I appreciate some help with the following: I recently changed my PC from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. Over the years (since 1996) I work on my PC with a Psion DBF file, first from a Psion 3a, later from my 5mx. I thought that the procedure transporting y file from my PC to my Psion would be the same easy as in Windows 98, however I run into problems.
When sending the DBF to my Psion, it is ending up as a Word file and it is completely scrambled. When I try to open the Psion file in PsiWin, I get the message: Can not find PSIDBF.DLL . I tried re-installing PsiWin, but the end result is the sam . As this is an important file for me, consisting of about 4500 biographies of Indonesian painters and totalling 1,6 mb, I need to do things right. Can anybody give me advice?Bernard Olij

Yeah I loved the Diamond Mako I had except for the battery problem I had and no slot for a flash card. I would definitely be interested in souped up revo with more memory, flash card capability and a color screen.

Hi
I am using a traditional ISP and infrared modem and sometimes experience Opera freezing though admittedly not that often. Usually I just disconnect and reconnect and that seems to take care of the problem. It happens only at certain websites with alot edia going on. Yahoo does not seem to work for me anymore so I use google and altavista which work great. I think the problem lys with the media of certiain websites and how opera works. I remember reading somewhere that Opera 5.14 for Epoc os was a rough product and some features were not completed.
