Subject: Apple Airport wireless dial-up
Terry, at home we have an apple airport wireless base station that connects to the internet via its internal modem. The way we have it set up at present is for the airport to connect automatically, as Martin suggests, but also we set the airport to disconnect automatically after 2 minutes idle (I am in the habit of abruptly finishing my computing sessions by shutting the lid of my iBook and expecting everything to take care of itself!)
However Martin your utilities sound like they could be very useful...

Antony,
>You then decide to send email from your client, setup was the senders address, via t-onlines SMTP server. You would then have a senders addresswhich doesn't exist.
Antony, T-Online can replace the From: header completely. This is because they kow the account details from the IP address. A RADIUS server maps the IP adress to the T-Online account (adresses outside that range have no access to the T-Online SMTP server). The account info is then used to replace the From: line in the header of each mail.

There are quite a few apps that can write and read from Garmin. Here are

Hi Marcus,
GREAT !!
I tried the new function, immerdiately. It works fine.
At last the BCc bug, which Psion's "great" developers could or want not fix, is rendered harmless.
I would stress also Marcus' speed.
I asked him at 5th of March 1 a.m. conc. the bug fixing and he informed me at the same day at 5 p.m. about the new version.
Thank you, Marcus!

Subject: Re: Setting up my Mbook
Perhaps I simply haven't found the right instructions in the Manual on the CDRom, but for now, I'm still perplexed about how to really make use of my MBook. For example - I bought and Orinoco card so that I could connect with my DSL wireless modem. But the Orinoco came with a CDRom which I used to install software on my desktop PC. All well and good. But don't I have to get some of that software onto the MBook? How can I do that? I can't use the connecting cord that I bought from Expansys because that needs a 9 pin serial port at the desktop end and I don't have one free. So I'd hoped to use the Orinoco card -- for which purpose I gather than I need to be able to get the Orinoco drivers onto the Mbook, which takes me into a vicious circle.
HELP!

Looking for info for Christopher, I went to
http://www.psion-gmbh.com/support/icw/index.mv?r=starttop
and found a pharmacy... which partly uses exactly this adress (see also "page info"). How is that possible?!
Here there used to be "the internet configuraton wizard", a small online application which helped create a .sis with modem settings... very smart... where would it be?

Hi,
Stephen Denholm of Wizworld has released a new much updated version of Navigate it can work on several operating systems.
See http://www.wizworldservices.co.uk/navigate for a demo version.
Nice to see another new prog for our machines. It needs to run off c or the data files need to be relocated out of system as the java can't see them there. This is apparently a limitation of the epoc java machine.
No connection just a happy user of Navigate.

1st time poster here, so sorry for the dumb question.....
I'm a huge fanof the Sheet feature on my Psion 5MX but i can't figure out how to do a SumIf style formula, such that if i had
1 a
45 b
23 a
12 b
34 a
I wanted to add all the values for "a" and show the result in a cell.
Any ideas greatly received.

Re.: Crontab problem - I think I found another problem with Crontab. It appears that this year again the program does not recognise what are working days and what not. Even though I have set the working days in the Control Panel to Monday to Friday, macro's I set in Crontab to be activated on workdays only are activated in the week-ends as well.

Re.: Nokia 9500 - How well or not can one synchronise between a S7/nB and a Nokia 9500 ? it sounds interesting but I would not put my mBook aside for the Nokia.

No, it is not a bug in Macro5, but rather a "feature" of EPOC's internal clipboard format. Although I am surprised you did not find (07) characters, since Email is rather wierd.
Anyway, this can be solved VERY efficiently by replacing the (06) characters by (OA) directly in the string, using a little knowledge of how OPL stores strings in memory. Here's how:
PROC example:
LOCAL string$(255)
string$ = ClipRead:
convert:(ADDR(string$), 006, 010) REM 010=&0A
ENDPROC
PROC convert:(addr_string&, from%, to%)
LOCAL pos&, len&
len& = PEEKB(addr_string&)
pos& = 1+addr_string&
WHILE len& > 0
IF from% = PEEKB(pos&)
POKEB(pos&),(to%)
ENDIF
pos& = pos& + 1
len& = len& - 1
ENDWH
ENDP
BTW, this won't work on ER6+ Smartphones because of the use of Unicode, but this is really the fault of OPL because it does not allow read/writing of the string as if it was an array. But anyway, fixing it for Unicode should be pretty easy.

Subject: Owen's Virues (well, not his exactly)
Hi Folks,
The attachment "Information.pif" that apparently contains a virus was sent to me too, though I don't remember the full "From" address, juI also got another "*.pif" attachment the same day, fr
I hadn't received any nasties at this eAddress until the recent 3.
I am certain no-one on the Digest is responsible for the virus but maybe someone, unprotected, has had eAddresses harvested from their eMails by a virus. It does happen. I'm certain it's not me as I only keep eAddresses on my Psion and very rarely use my Mac for eMail at all (and my anti-virus software, Norton, is current). But many Digestives do use a PC and as this is a Windoze nasty perhaps this is a good time for them to ensure that their a-v software is current.
This is not an accusation, far from it, but everybody, not just us, needs to be on their toes about this. It is easy to be unaware of nasties - I know as my ISP blames it's infected customers for being infected but expects them to disinfect themselves without even being informed. That's bloody wilful ignorance and blameworthy whereas ignorance of infection is usually only sad.
People who write these nasties are usually, pretty much by definition, ahead of a-v writers. But since Psions have a very good Agenda program alarming a regular a-v update/scan is easy. We should all do it because Owen is right.
Good luck,
Phil.
