Dear Itamar,

I rather think that Chris Handley is right, and no one will be able to persuade the other. Belief and Knowledge are, by definition, quite different kettle of fish. So I will bow out of this discussion.

BTW, how did it go with the Düsseldorf CompuServe dial-up number?

Regards

Carlos

Is this true?

Psion site stated that the r520 is not psion-fax compatible (The r520 manual states that it is Group III fax modem)

Is this true? OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been using Ericsson I888 w/built in modem for ever with no problems sending and receiving faxes, emails and web browsing - I would love to upgrade to the GPRS speed without loosing my precious fax capabilities - The only luck I had so far was with the ericsson T610, but this phone is probably the stupidest phone I ever saw (I'm an adult not a kid - I don't want stupid ring tone noises, minutuare buttons that my fingers need to pay attention to what it's doing, color screen for poor visiblably in bright day light where most of my calls are being made or even a camera) I just want to call someone, send faxes out to my disturbers, check my emails with attachments and browse if needed on a real screen like psions - can anyone HELP with this simple need - I thought that this Ericsson r520m was it.

I did speak with Ericsson and they said I can send this phone in for an firmware upgrade (but they did admit that they don't understand what I'm trying to do)I'm getting used too responses like that, eveytime I mention PSION everybody wants to run away or just say it won't work.

Can anybody in our PSION WORLD help me stay connected with a GPRS IR phone and speed without loosing my fax capabilities? I'm starting to feel that I'm the only one who needs to send faxes :(

All INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANKS - DONALD

RE:

What is your error msg? Modems setting may be incorrect

Is your telco fax option enabled? YES

It has been reported some success (with Orange) and settings :

Lowering the Speed

Fax Class 1 (not auto)

carrier ON

Terminal ON

Connection Mobile (OR try "Fixed")

It has even been "newsgrouped" that adding a semi colon ";" at the end of a comm-fax# helps!

I have just purchased a Sony Ericsson T610 (updated version of T68i) on Vodafone. Does anyone know the AT codes for the T610 and/or the details for Vodafone GRPS services?

Thanks

Richard

I have some bad news for you I think. I had an SPV for 12 months and was never able to get it to talk to my Psions, using both the Psion provided links and tools provided by 3rd parties.

I'm sure you'll not want to hear this either but I have just gone back to a Nokia 6310i because the SPV, while great at accessing the internet and email, was just useless as a phone. I personally need something reliable when making calls - the original SPV just wasn't.

Sorry to be so negative but I just tell it like it is.

Neil

Dear Trygve,

Sorry, yes I was mixing your excellent site up with Boris'.

It's a shame EPOC can't deliver the goods to become a cycle computer, I bow to your expertise in such things.

Regarding en-dangering my 5mx whilst travelling en cycle, you're forgetting my new creation's shock and waterproof features.

Plus if I could borrow your 5mx for initial tests I'm laughing!

Cheers,

Will.

Re Sigs.

Friends, this discussion has now used up much more

space and download time than any imaginable sig.

It is also very boring, and has nothing to do with

EPOC or Psion. Could those interested please take

it to e-mail, and out of the Digest?

Thank you in advance.

Subject: Isn't It Ironic?

Hi all,

I've just bought a Creative Labs Muvo² mp3/wma player (4GB). I was a bit concerned that the transfer rates would be slow on my old computer as it only supports USB 1.1 and not USB 2.

The only cable data transfers I've done up to now is to and from my Revo+ via the serial cable, but what a revelation, even the 'old' USB format is astonishingly fast in comparison.

Regards,

Mike Dyer.

The Tomtom GPS-mouse was discontinued 3-4 years ago afaik. What you pointed to on eBay looks like cable-spaghetti to me... You might get an eTrex (the yellow ones, the cheapest, which still offer a lot more functionality) for about the same price. Cables are extra, afaIk. There are also cables that'll power both machines - not cheap; or you can build your own.

The last Tomtom update for the Psion I am aware of is I think 2 years old. The .sis installers are not available, unlike the previous upgrade, so you need a PC or Mac to install maps. I still use the - in the meantime I think ca 4 years old version. There are newer roads it doesn't know and people have been known to land under bridges when strictly following the route... But if one also looks ahead and uses good sense...

Btw, we've had that before, has anyone found a way of extracting the map-.sis docs from the newer version?

best,

I'll keep it short, because this is not what I subscribe to this list for. Some like short sigs, some like long sigs. Vive la difference. I like to screw lids on jars straight and tight; my wife "likes" to screw them on crooked, whopperjawed, and loose. I now smile when I open the jelly jar after her. It has become endearing. I would miss it. (I am also very careful about picking up a full juice jar by the lid! I make allowances. Again, vive la difference!)  --Chris

Anthony,

your post makes funny reading indeed. It no doubt cost you a few hours. I thought the topic was closed - but by all means, feel free to go on ad lib.
