Once my Revo's battery drops below a dismayingly high threshold (about 78%) the Revo shuts off as soon as it tries to play a sound. This might be sounding a key click, but usually it's an alarm. If an alarm comes due when the Revo is in my pocket, it won't turn on when opened. Pressing Esc turns the Revo on, but then the unacknowledged alarm tries to sound which instantly turns it off again. So I have to press Esc very rapidly: once to turn on the machine and again to quickly cancel the alarm before the Revo can fill its lungs with air. Pitiful, but I love my Revo (and Owen's sigs).

Andy,
No worries regarding the CF thing, I've got a laptop that should sort this CF problem out. That CD is finished btw, you'll get it later this week.
Did you ever read my posting regarding Essential Disc Utilities? I'm convinced that will could cure your CF ills out within your Psion.
EDU has cured problems with my CF disks that Windows never could.
Cheers,
Will.

Spam again...

Then I suggest you go elsewhere as you're not the only one to get a lot of spam.<
I'm sorry; I missed the part where I was asking for sympathy. You've got the wrong person.
I have a spam filter on my Windows PC which does the job for me for free. I then download the rest of my email via my Netbook.
You can't beat $0.00 per year :-). In fact I like it so much, I insisted on doubling my fee.

If it is correctly formatted in the email, you should be able to view it from there. It will be correctly formatted when each line is terminated with the <EOL> tag. E.g: -
Correct
Acdsacdsacdsacdsacds<eol>
Acdsacdsacdsacdsacds<eol>
Incorrect
Acdsac
dsacdsacdsacds<eol>
Acdsacdsac
dsacdsacds<eol>
To view it, stare past it as if you are looking at something much farther away. Your vision will be blurred, but you will eventually see the optical illusion quite clearly. Have a look at this site for more help and examples: http://www.magiceye.com/faq_example.htm
It would be interesting to know how many can actually see it? Apparently, if you have 1 eye that is much stronger than another, it is more difficult to see. Also, it is supposed to be good exercise for your eyes!
Good Luck,
Antony Booth

Andy,
I'd be happy to help your poor little CF card out. Email me if you need to arrange this.
I am in Chester, UK.

Solar (re)chargers - have we made progress?:
Has anyone any direct experience of using a solar recharger with (I presume) rechargeable batteries with REVO/ NETBOOK or even 5 series? (And for that matter GPS units etc)
The prospect of going away into the wilds and tapping Mother Nature's resources appeals. I'm meaning log cabin life, with only real fire and flame as company.
What do our constant traveller members use, when hotel rooms and waiting room lobbies are not available?
In fact, I have always wondered how TV crews cope power-wise when roaming in remote areas.
Thanks
George

Re.: 190 are spam - That is an awful number of spam messages. I suggest - if your pocket can bare the expense - to use something like Spamache. For something like 6 dollars a month they enter your mailbox every 10 minutes and delete all spam messages into a spam mailbox on their server. If you want, you can check the messages there, something I hardly ever do. It catches 98% of all spam messages and you will only receive your own messages again.

Subject: netbook WIFI to XP Cisco card setup heeeelp!
Does anyone have experience sharing their internet connection (I have cable broadband access) between their netbook using the CISCO AIRONET 340 series PCMCIA WIFI card and Windows XP?
I don't have a router and have been attempting to connect them peer to peer as explained by Martin Guthrie on foxpop. His WiFi card is different to mine and the driver in the netBook for Cisco is not as sophis.
I'm not completely sure if it's my meager understanding of WinXP that is at fault here (my new system is in French which makes things even more confusing!) or is it I'm trying to achieve the impossible?
I notice that in XP under WiFi network properties/ Authentification, it says "authentification IEEE 802.1x cannot function with peer to peer (ad hoc) or if encryption is turned off." Is this relevant? The card in the computer (desktop) is a PRISM 802.11g.
Feel free to email me directly or to the digest if you can help
regards,
Jennifer

Subject: Problems and response
I recently posted two messages telling of nasty problems with my S7. A worthy Digesteer replied privately to share his experience of the same (chief) problem. and his advice resulted in my S7 disk C being revived, so that life can begin again. We have had a correspondence. My latest message to him includes the following, slightly sad in tone:
"It is a curious fact that, on the Digest itself (i.e., not counting your private and most welcome message), only one person seems to have noticed my strife - and he read the message incorrectly. Clearly, fascination with mobile phones, alternative PDAs, Darwin, the nature of Science, and signatures, has taken its toll."
This is, however, an excellent Digest, and I give full marks to Itamar and his colleagues for setting it up and maintaining it. EPOC should live.

PS. Vive Owen's latitude and longtitude.

Subject: Messaging centre problems/rogue fax accounts
I've read quite a lot of postings on Digestees trying to get rid of these rogue fax accounts. Also, as you may know, I was encountering problems with trying to get my S7 to use a different SMS message centre number to the one already set up within SMS Account Settings. I'm not certain how these two problems occur in the first place (possibly an ER5 Mail bug?) but a surefire way to correct both problems is to create a completely new index file. Archive all your SMS messages, emails, attachments and faxes first then delete the C:System/Mail folder and restart Email from the silkscreen. The only downside is you will have to re-enter all your account settings (took me 2 minutes) but you will then start with a completely fresh application, devoid of any extra fax accounts and also the SMS account settings will now accept a new SMS message centre number.
Regards
Kevin Thorne
