Hi Psioneers
There was once a small app that allowed you to set up reminders so every time you opened the psion it told you of some things you needed to to..
in "freebie" mode it allowed 3/4 reminders - in paid for mode it allowed you more flexibility.
I used to popup in a corner for a  few secs then go..
I for the life of me can't find it in my archives...anbd I could really do with it..
wondered if the owners might let it go public domain -

Anyone remember it?

Yes, I felt it was (see explanation below).  But you missed-out the crucial second part of what I said, which was intended to clarify my intentions:

", but I do ask ANYONE discovering a bug to please email me privately, if at all possible."

That I certainly agree with.

I am afraid that you have completely misconstrued what I said.  First a bit of history, in case you have not been on the Digest as long as me:

Literally days after I first joined the Digest, Rolf B happened to post some questions/criticism about a very early version of TubeRoute, presumably without knowing that I was the author (or that I was even on the Digest).  I'm not going to judge here whether what he did (or how he did it) was right or wrong, but it DID lead to a very heated argument between me and him, and of course some others joined-in too.  History lesson over!  I hope that both sides now consider it a silly thing to have gotten so worked-up about.

What I said in my 'tag line' was intended to be a slightly humorous take on Rolf's penchant for finding problems with software (well, he was once a software tester, so habits die hard), and then I followed it up with the related comment that I would prefer that ANYONE (not just Rolf!) to send problems/bugs/criticisms/etc to me privately, partly SO that there is little chance of another heated discussion ensuing.

Regards,
Chris Handley

Subject: Macro5 for revo beta

Hi All,

At long last I've finally pulled my finger out and started working on adapting Macro5 to work on the revo/mako.  I have an early beta version available now and am calling for any potential beta testers.  I don't want vast numbers of people initially - so I'll probably close this request in a few days.  If you're interested, please send me an email to: macro5ATpscience5DOTnet (replacing the AT and DOT appropriately) and I'll send a copy to you within a few hours.

I should add that this is a very preliminary beta at his stage. Essentially all I've done is make the 'small' view correctly fit onto the revo's screen and enable the task switching to work and view correctly .  However the task switching indicator is far too large for the revo's screen really and needs re-sizing - and the icon view hasn't been changed yet - and...  I don't really need feedback just yet - I already know what the issues are - unless someone manages to crash the program of course!  I just find that nothing focusses the mind like a bunch of beta-testers wanting the next version!  ;¬)

Thanks,
Martin

Hi all,

Reply to Bernard Hill:

I suspect your p800 battery is not a Sony Ericsson original and although working perfectly does not 'talk' to the phones operating system properly?

My p800 clicks three times once a day when logging onto GPRS perhaps your phone is set to disconnect from GPRS when an incoming call appears, and then to reconnect afterwards, hence your multiple clicks?

My p800 has never asked me to reset it in the 4 months I've owned it.

Reply to Itamar:

You have one of the nicest screens availiable! a quarter of a million displayable colours...

I still dislike Quickword, it has an annoying habit of not saving half your document when you leave it, perhaps your version will be better than mine?. I've resorted to using the freeware jText which is reliable, saves documents as .TXT files, and has built in encryption.

Your t610 ringtones should work, it used to be only Orange who locked down their phones with custom firmware but Vodafone are getting a lot of flack on the web for doing the same thing.

Can you define your own folders in the email program?, I've been told this is finally possible on the p910?

I have discussed Active Desk at length in the digest previously, but I am aware that Handy Day is more popular, each to their own etc.

I've emailed Think Outside about the possible bugs in their keyboard software but they haven't yet replied, contrary to what I said in the last digest I've only lost caller id on incoming sms text messages and not incoming callers since installing their software.

Regards,
Mike Dyer.

Just to answer Itamar:

Yes, if you start a send/receive going and switch to another app, the process should will carry on happily in the background. When it's finished though, if you haven't switched back to it manually, it will act on the 'background' status and revert to its summary screen. ____________________________________________________________________

You can't delete files on the Psion but you should be able to recover
the file from your Psion backup, even if you have backed up the Psion
once or twice since, as the backup utility should keep the last 3
backups.

The oldest backup should be in arc.001 while the latest should be in
arc.003 folder, directory structure should be something like
C:\Psion\Netbook\folder for each Psion drive\ (Netbook = whatever you
called your Psion)

Suggest that you try the Windows recycle bin if you have done more than
2 backups since the file was deleted.

Hi

Has anyone else come across the OQO pocket PC.  It looks to be very cool although it is expensive and doesn't have great battery life.  Still a definite step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.
