1. Loctite makes a special two part bonding agent for plastic called "Plastix" - which works extraordinarily well for bonding together two plastic items.
2. I posted a query about whether it's possible to graft the top of one Revo or Mako to the bottom of another a couple of weeks ago - and received 0 responses.  Is there really no one out there who has tried this?

Subject: OT: Non-converged

Just packing my bag for work tomorrow a few moments ago I was struck by how non-converged all my portable devices are. I was struck by the thickness of the stack of the mobile phone, Palm Tungsten T5 & iPod, with a memory stick to follow tomorrow.

My (usually younger) colleagues manage to squeeze all this and a camera onto a single device which is pretty impressive but to my mind involves compromises all over the place.

Unfortunately the P910 and Outlook refuse to co-operate with any categorisation. A cheap & maybe not so nasty way of locating just your photo clients might be as follows: - sync the P910 contacts to Outlook
- Use "find" in Outlook to search for something which is unique to your photoclients: E.G. Album type, film used, etc.

Hope this helps

Subject: New Game for Series 7 and netBook!

Dear All,

I have just released my Space Invaders game for the Series 7 and netBook!  I know that there is already a version of this out there, however, I could never get on with that version as I found it too slow and the keys unresponsive.  This led me to write this version with display speed and key control at the heart of its design.  As with all my programs it is written in OPL, this really shows what can be achieved using OPL.

The program has been released as freeware and I am supporting it!  You can find it on my site: www.pocketiq.com/home/software/details.asp?product=Invaders.  If the URL doesn't work, then go to the Pocket IQ Site and follow the links.

I hope some of you find this game enjoyable.

Regards
David

Dear Stephen,

<< Yesterday, the battery case on my classic Series 3a split.  Woe. I
can't find an adhesive or bonding agent that holds the plastic on the
Psions.  I've tried Crazy Glue (cyanoacrylate), ABS bonding agents,
JB Weld Quickset Epoxy etc. >>

I've been product specialist for a line of instruments of which the
sensors were largely glued together. One of our R&D engineers spent
almost six months testing glues when we developed a completely new
sensor. What I remember from his report is that you have to use
exactly the right glue for the type of plastic (or composite) you
have. And that you have to follow the instructions religiously when
it comes to surface preparation, application, etc. Having tried out a
number of glues I'm afraid the the battery case is now in such a
state that you're not going to get any satisfactory results. You'd
have to remove the remains of the glues using a file so that you get
a completely clean surface. This will leave a gap between the parts
which the glue then has to fill. While glues aren't designed to be
fillers. I'm afraid the only solution is to get yourself a new
battery compartment.

<< The option of sending my Psions to the Canadian repair shop seems
quite impossibly expensive and POSLtd doesn't seem to be interested
in taking repairs from this hemisphere >>

Why don't you contact them with the question whether they can sell
you a spare battery compartment?

Answer to: Rick Mitchell

Re.: GPRS via Sony Ericsson phone - It could be that in your internet settings you have to enter a dial up string that looks like *99***5# and not just *99#. I am not sure which number you should put in the place of the 5 as my string is for the P910i, but trying out from 1 upwards will soon enough give you the correct one. Now I might well be wrong, but I thought that in order to use WAP on a Psion you need to use a special WAP program and not the WEB internet program (or Opera). I seem to remember (as I recently wrote) that there was such a program as I used it once or twice.

Looking over some preliminary info on Google's proposed free Email with 1 gig storage, I see that it will work with POP mail.

What are the thoughts about the new offering?

Ooops!  I hope that you've now learnt not to throw manuals away ;-)

However, most manufacturers make PDFs of their manuals available on their web site.  So go have a look, download it, and start reading...

Typically you can access the router by entering the address 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 into a web browser (on a machine connected to your router).  It will ask for the user name & password - if you don't have these, then the manual will tell you their defaults.  It'll probably be something like "admin" & "password".  If your computer wizard has changed the password without telling you, then I'm afraid your only solution is a hard reset.

BTW, it is a BAD idea to use a WiFi connection to do this, because as soon as you change the WiFi settings your web browser's connection will be lost.  So if at all possible, connect using an ethernet cable.

Subject: Seeking Psion Series 3a 3c Plastic Shell Spares

Thanks to Howard and Itamar for your suggestions for bonding the battery case on my Psion 3a. I've tried superglue and Gorilla Glue -- the best bond was with Testors #3501 Cement for Plastic Models. Unfortunately, it seems that the remaining plastic contact surface at the break is just too brittle and minimal to provide strength to adequately resist the pressure of the battery spring clip. There is no harm in continuing to try; but, I need to be realistic and see if I can effect some parts replacement repairs on my Psions.

Anyone have a Series 3a with a good battery holder or a Series 3c with good hinges that they would like to sell please?  Non working units would be fine.

Ebay sellers seem to only offer working units which auction at high prices.  The two Psion repair services in North America and G.B. are great but so expensive.

Where are all of the spares for SIBO and EPOC units from Psion production?

/Stephen Stone
