Subject: Agenda file - unable to open.
Psion MX5 16MB
I cannot open my agenda file. When I try to it presents the message box "Information Not enough memory" when I click on continue it takes me back to the system screen. The size of the file is 6,671,192. It is a 16MB of which only 8.812MB (53%) has been used.
How can I open this file?
If I can open it I propose to move half of it to another Agenda file. Will this work?
Any suggested replacements for this Psion?

Re.: SE 700i connecting problems - Well, some are and some are not. The P800/900/910i series is compatible and I use it regularly to connect via GPRS and download email on my mBook. It could well be that it is not the Symbian operating system but the installed modem function on the particular phone that does not allow it.

Re.: Psion heaven - I must say that the only diary/agenday program that gets reasonably near to the EPOC one and is very well usable is the Handy Day 2004 one. You can show the To-Do's on the day function as well and also have alarms go off for each To-Do that has got an alarm. They will continue to show just like in the EPOC one until you either delete them or reset the date. I have never upgraded to Handy Day 2005 as they updated a lot in that version and I read reports that the updates make it less usable. If it ain't broke ...... .

Re. Smartmovie on UIQ - Last night we had a powercut for almost 3 hours and I decided to watch a movie on my P910i which I had just installed for my upcoming holiday. We lit some candles in the kitchen as well as the gas for some heat andmy wife and I watched a movie on he P910i. The loudspeaker was loud enough to hear 98% of the talking and the screen was of course very small but very well watchable for boh of us. It is really a little amazing program, reducing films of over 600,000 to less than 100,000 bytes so I can have 3 to 4 films on my 512 Mb card. The only disadvantage is that one film more or less drains the battery. Luckily the power was restored just before the end of the film and I could charge my phone again overnight. However, if you have for example to make a train journey where you have power points in the train it is a great little program to keep you from getting bored.

Subject: Sheer curiousity,
Answer to: Axel Moberg
Re.: Sheer curiousity - I suppose the best thing to do is do a full hard reset and than re-install all the programs again. However, AFAIK it is not possible to read WORD and EXCEL files on an EPOC machine without first converting them to the EPOC WORD or SHEEt formats. You can do this either with Psiwin when transfering them from a PC to the EPOC machine or with programs like nConvert. If your MC218 is really giving up on you, my advice is to try and get a 2nd hand nBook, mBook or even just a S7, unles you want to migrate to a different system of course.

Subject: Free Psion bits & Revo Batteries
1. I have an original copy of Purple Software Chess for EPOC Psions and also a battery compartment complete for a Series 3x.
If anyone wants these, please email me and I will send them to you (within reason!)
2. Has anyone replaced their own Revo (Plus) batteries for new rechargeables to improve their life after charging, or know of someone who can, and what
is the life afterwards?
Cheers!

Subject: Headphone adaptor for the 9500, 2GB MMC
Thanks to Mike Dyer and Steve Litchfield for telling me about the audio adaptor to allow me to use any headphones with my 9500. I should have posted my query before I went out and bought the official Nokia PopPort ones guys but that's life I suppose! At least I now know I can go out and get myself a really decent pair and use the audio adaptor in my PopPort connection. In reply to Steve's query to me:
<The plug-in was never formally released, I think, because it was superceded by OggPlay itself. But, on my 9500, with OggPlay installed, the right codecs seem to be there for Music Player to use as well. Does this work for you?
Let me know.>
Yes it does work on mine too. The only thing that seems to be a slight problem is Music Player lists all Ogg tracks as 5 minutes long, whatever their actual length. One more thing - I notice that a fair few online retailers are now advertising 2GB MMC cards so if I get one of those in my 9500 the Ipod is definitely staying at home in the future!

I thought I could feel my ears burning! ;¬)
I'm in somewhat slow discussion with Ben at Neuon about exactly this happening. I *think* the idea being that they'd publish the generic codes themselves - although I'm equally happy to host and have offered. Since they've publicly acknowledged that they're no longer accepting registration requests, I'm happy to discuss individual requests with anyone who'd care to email me regarding their particular needs. Equally, if anyone takes umbridge at this stance then please feel free to email me - I've never been one for mass debating in public...

Martin
