>>An annoying feature of 9500 search it that after you have entered the search item you must NOT press enter but just wait until it does its thing. The 5mx in common with all other search programs requires you to press Enter after entering the word to be searched.
Most apps these days do things the 9500 way. It's called 'Quick matching' or 'Matching as you type'.
>>For looking up my Contact telephone number have had to go back to using Psion have'n't the patience to wait 4/5 seconds for a search on 9500 Charles Davies
Quick matching an entry on my 9500 (with 600 contacts) takes two seconds at most. Are you sure you haven't turned on the searching of fields in the 'Advanced' tab?

Just plugging my new, interactive 'Compare Psion with 9500 with xxxx' table. Put in your own weightings and the table will tell you which device is most suitable. 8-)

Subject: POP3 access to Gmail
Hi,
For anyone using my POP3 access to Gmail service at mail.bleb.org:2525
(see http://www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/00691.html#T3), I've now
switched it off in favour of "ginbox":
http://www.bleb.org/tools/ginbox/
Ginbox is a service (with source available) which allows POP3 access
to your Gmail inbox, overcoming some of the limitations with Gmail's
POP3 service. For example, it will allow you to see all messages in a
folder (your inbox, by default) rather than all those since you last
accessed via POP3.
As a side effect, it also allows unencrypted POP3 access, which is
useful when trying to use it with EPOC's Mail application which
doesn't support encrypted POP3.
If anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers,
Andrew

>I would love to switch to the 9500
I actually have a brand new 9300 but cant switch to either because I daily use a DOS program run under the XTM DOS emulator and no-one is writing a DOS emulator for the 9300 or 9500
I've had 2 9290s - for which the XTM emulator is available but 1 developed a broken hinge and the other developed glitches in the operating system Therefore I had to switch back to the 5mx

aren't many applications for the 92.. series communicators compatible for the 9500/9300 ?
might be worth a trial if possible..

Subject: MC218, Describe your favourite program,
Answer to: Bob
Re.: MC218 - It sounds like you have the screen cable problem. You can still have it mended at several placed, but you'll have to choose between having it mended or going for something else. Anyhow, you can still back-up all your data as the machine will continue to work. Open the link and make a back-up to your PC/Mac.

Re. Describe your favourite program - As traffic off late is rather slow, I thought it might be a good time for subscribers to give us a short description about your favourite program on one of the new Symbian machines. I will try and do it myself in the coming days as well. Thanks.
