I believe the docking station (when attached to your power supply)
should charge the 7Book without the serial connection.  The
connectors appear to be separate from the regular DC connector.  You
should then be able to save your Psion contents onto a Compact Flash,
which would then let you put them back even without a computer.

On the other hand, having the DC connector loose risks having things
short out.

The problem with the regular DC connector is that it wasn't all that
solid a connection, and needs to be repaired.  Pretty much any of the
regular Psion repair places can handle that repair.  Indeed, if you
find one of the several descriptions of how to repair it, many
electronic technicians or enthusiasts would be able to do the repair
for you.  I repaired my one several years ago without major
problems.  It is basically disassemble, solder the connector back
onto the circuit board, reassemble, with most of the problems being
the delicacy of some parts.

Re.: Nokia 9300i vs SE P990 - I think that OPL by itself will not change my opinion as I never got into developing software in OPL (or any other program) myself. Only if the community of software writers - both commercial and shareware - would start to develop software in OPL again would it make a difference for me. What are the chances this will happen givn the nowadays (very) short lifespan of each platform ?

Re. using mBook  - I have to say that the mBook is still years "ahead" of many other devices. I am sitting in the hotel lounge of a hotel in Cologne and with my Wifi card I just connect to the wireless service here and check my emails and if needed can surf the internet too. Several people were very interested in this small device with full keyboard but alas .... had to tell them it is not manufactured anymore. The general reply is "what a pitty". Now if only I could do Remote Access with it and enter my computer in the office as well it would have been completely perfect.

After two weeks with the machine, I am wondering if there is a
secret. The joystick never seems to go in the direction I intended.

To take a sheet from ER5 to ER6 on the Mac there are four simple stages.

spr ER5 to XL with nConvert
XL to XL Mac
XL Mac to XL 97/2000
XL 97/2000 to spr ER6

- the only problem being that by the time the sheet arrives back, the
date has moved forward four years, from 2006 to 2010.

Is there any quick way of sending selected spreadsheet cells via irda
from an ER5 to ER6 spredsheet ?

Is there any quick way of sending selected text via irda from an ER5
to ER6 document ?

Eric I have a spare SH888 with two batteries which you are welcome to have for the cost of the postage. Where is here - I'm in London?

One of my batteries is a "high capacity" one which could well already contain AA sized cells. It is a completely sealed unit though so opening it up will be a challenge...

If you use ebook or Vreader5 then you can use the .txt files directly without converting them. Email me off digest and I'll send you the .sis files if you can't find them in the usual places.

An alternative would be to use one of the free .pdf converters and make them into .pdfs. This will retain any fancy formatting.

I solved this in the end by moving ort router to be closer to where I was working... (My neighbours (and I) have set up security on the networks to keep each other out. Hence the annoyance at the netbook (don't know why I wrote netpad the first time) at latching onto a network it cannot use.)

Does anybody have the necessary settings for Southern (trains), GNER and Starbucks?

Subject: Question about a bug in macro5

I have discovered a bug with Macro5 and was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same problem.

If you have 13 or less user defined hotkeys then there is no problem! If however you have a 14th or more key defined then a glitch seems to appear!  If you press Ctrl + i then it brings up the 14 defined user hotkey, regardless what it is set for.  For example, in street millenium, one of the short cuts for adding detail is to press Ctrl + i and this kept staring one of my macro's, even though it was set to be run by pressing Ctrl + Tab.

I have played around with it and found that if you swap them all around it is always the 14th defined hotkey.

What I am wondering is........
- Have others got the same glitch?
- I am using version 2.45 (the latest version) does the previous version, 2.40 have the same glitch?
- Is there anyone who is using version 2.45 and they have not got the same glitch happening?
- Has anyone any words of wisdom?

I hope that I have described this correctly, and it makes sense.  see http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64326 for more info.

Regards,
Tim
