Hi Axel,

There is a digest for the Libretto (i'm a member) and you've kinda been there by the sounds of it !, just send an email to
make sure it is blank but in the SUBJECT field put this in EXACTLY
cmd:subscribe digest

You'll find all your drivers here:
http://www.amherst.co.uk/libfiles.htm

This is the biggest Toshiba Libretto fansite:

Subject: WARNING; Clocks are about to change again

Just a reminder that the silly summer time clock change marathon is due.

As Windows can't handle the date/time stamp on files correctly (see my full post 1/2 a year ago in the archives), the first time after you change summertime on your Psions, PsiWin backups will take a long time. This is because Windows reports all file times changed by an hour and causes PsiWin to backup all files.  Not just those that have changed.

My solution for a few years now, is to not use Psion's summertime feature.  I just change system time by one hour.

Also if you have more than one OS partition on a computer that runs Windows, switch off the automatic change.  Else every partition will change the clock by one extra hour.  I first noticed this when my desktop computer changed by 4 hours, during one week!

This is great news. The Nokia keyboard is difficult to navigate and
iDesk is much easier and faster to use than the system's Desk and
applications menu.

On the Revo, I decided a long time ago I could sacrifice the
apostrophe. So just hitting the apostrophe key called up Macro5; ' s
called up Sheet, ' w called up Word. What more could a fellow ask
for ? (Of course, I had to make a shortcut for when I needed an
apostrophe.) Macro5 was brilliant and functional - even during the
long years when there wasn't a proper Macro5 interface for the Revo.

Many thanks, Arjen, for all the hard work and please send the beta of
your new app.

Thanks to the good people at Nova Media

my Nokia 9500 synchronizes happily with the Mac.

However, the notes in Calendar disappear in the sync with iCal. This
is very frustrating because I use Calendar as a log book.

Is there a workround ? Do the notes disappear when Calendar is
synchronised with Windows ? Or with Entourage on the Mac ?

Where are the Calendar files stored in the Nokia System folder? Can
they be turned into text ?

TIA

Answer to: Axel Moberg

Re.: keyboard - Another thought I have is the following. Do a full hard reset of the Psion and than don't install ANY programs. Open the WORD program and start typing. If the problem is still there it is clearly a hardware problem that needs to be repaired. If not, install one program after the other instead of doing a full re-installation and after each program check again whether the problem is there or not. This will take some time but in the end you will find the offending program or file.

Re. mBook key problem - The Ctrl key came of my mBook. I think the little spring underneath must have disappeared because when I reconnect it it just sits at the bottom and doesn't come up or feels "springy" like the others. Where can I get a little spring like that ? Or is there no spring and do I do something wrong ?

Subject: iDesk - Time/Date string

On 21 Mar 2006, at 11:38, I wrote:

I think I have found a solution.

Unlike the ER5 Sheet, in ER6, there is no +now, just =now, which
requires an empty set of following brackets, ().

In ER5, +now sends a 'dead' time/date string, while =now sends a
string that will be updated whenever activated. If you want the date
to remain unmodified in ER6, you must uncheck the recalculation
option for the entire worksheet.

In a worksheet called Timedate, I insert =now() into two cells and
then format each cell, one for time and one for date. In a third
cell, I put my location.

Then using the excellent iDesk I make a shortcut, Shift Desk - (iDesk
allows you to make shortcuts using the eight application keys with a
modifying key. Cool !!)
which will take me from the app I'm in to the worksheet Timedate. I
copy and then I paste back in my initial app, and I have the correct
time, date and location.

I can do much the same thing inserting the selected cells as an
object into a wp document.

I'm finding iDesk makes the Nokia 9500 a lot, lot easier to navigate.

I would be interested, mainly for the batteries obviously.  I guess I
could be further away ... but not be much.  Airlie Beach, tropical
North Queensland, Australia.  On the other hand, postage to here
works.  Plus I actually have a U.K. bank account.  Any idea of
postage costs?

Oh good, being only 6 digests behind makes me feel almost up to date!

A few questions:

1. Have you installed ANY other software lately?
In particular, anything that uses serial ports?

2. Does your machine have a normal serial port, or an USB-to-serial adapter?

3. If you start up a Terminal emulator, can you find the COM port the Revois connected to?
3a. And if so, what happens if you set it to the same speed as the commslink on the Revo, and switch on the link? (These tests must be done withPsiWin closed down)

4. I assume that you haven't forgotten to switch the link on in yourRevo...:-)

Hi there,
Right click on the Psiwin "line" on the taskbar, left click on Propertiesand left click on Connections; if there are 2 COM ports selected, then thatmight be your problem, so connect your Psion, select the correct port andtry to connect.  You might have to check the correct port is selected eachtime you connect, as I do.
Hope that works.
All the best,
     Kate!!

Re.: Psion Revo - PC link - Psiwin works on my PC's with XP and Xp Prowithout any problems so it should work. I can think of severla things youshould check :

- Is the correct port set in the Psiwin settings
- Is the speed on the PC and Revo the same
- Is the cable connected into the right COM port (physically)
- Did you install any new software that takes hold of the same serial portdisallowing Psiwin to connect

Let us know if any of these matters was the cause of your problem.

Hi friends,

I thank you all from my heart for your interest. Here are my answers:1.Softwares installed lately: I think I installed Netscape 8.1 Browser (changing from IE); acdsee3; Yahoo widget, Sony picture package (that comes with the Sony digital camera)...that is all I can find here.(Is there any way to list the softwares installed according to date?)
2. I am not aware of anything new using serial ports. There has to be some new hardware for the same, isn't it? I found that the internal modem is in COM3.
3. My PC has a serial port which is being used for Psion Revo. I don't use a USB-Serial adaptor.

4. Terminal emulator??? (Sorry, I have no idea what this means :-)

5. I have tried with the link in the Psion Revo switched on, connected to cable, and at the various speeds given. The error message that comes is as though there is no connection to the Revo.
6. I tried Kate's suggestion too, didn't work.
7. PsiWin settings: Since the link doesn't work, I take "help" and it guides me to change the COM ports. I have tried that too.

I hope the above answers all?

Best regards,
Thomas Antony
