Subject: Running files from OPL on a Psion 5mx
I love tomeraider 2.0 and have whiled away many a time by having a read. True.... many of the free books are not exactly everyday reading but I have read some fascinating books that ordinarily I would not of bought let alone carried round with me. My problem stems from the fact that the book file names are often not the complete book title ( some I cant remember and have to go back to the download source. ) and needless to say the name of the author doesnt figure anywhere... of course a database and a small opl file to display it solves the problem...its just a shame there is no way of starting the book file from within the opl.....or is there ? If one could do this quite a natty "Library" program could be written and stored on a compact flash with the Tomeraider program and the books making a self contained library unit....alas... I think i'm being wishful....or not?
My other problem is the wand "thingy". A couple of years it stuck and an email to Psion support told me how easily is was to solve the problem. I stored the solution on my PC but of course over a course of reloads, upgrades and complete rebuilds the file has gone awol and now I need it
I cant find it....
I am sure one of you chaps out there will know...I hope.

Subject: Re: Geofox One.
I've been looking forward to receiving a Geofox one as an addition to my collection of older psions. I now have everything from the II through the various 3s, 5, 5mx, Series 7 to a 9100. I much prefer a keyboard device and am not particularly interested in phone devices. The Geofox has its idiosyncracies ie Esc at lower left, but has a nice form factor, like a thin paperback. I have one problem in that it came with everything but a serial cable. The PDA end of the cable is a larger, that is wider version of the RS232 connector on the Psions. Does anyone have an idea where i could source such a thing? this is never going to be my main machine, but i would like to use it for note taking in the garden etc, where its greyscale screen would be useful.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I've had no end of trouble with MMCs. I think you've beensold an SD or XD(?) card which is meant to be backwards compatible with MMC. Your card reader probably doesn't have all the necessary contacts for it though.

Minolta (or one of the other digital camera manufacturers) did make one. It was very expensive. I've done ok using an SD to PC Card adaptor in my netBook though.

Yes

Yes. I've just done this to clone my current 5mx onto a new machine from ebay.
