Subject: Re: Backup batteries (was: RE: SiBO and my use of Psions)
Hello all
The CR series of batteries are lithium based batteries with a nominal voltage of 3V. In theory, any of these would be suitable to provide the backup battery for the Psion series machines (assuming the internal resistance is not too low). The numbering format for these batteries is thus:-
CRXXYY = XXmm diameter and Y.Ymm thick
So a CR2032 is 20mm diameter and 3.2mm thick
Therefore, it is clear that the physical difference between a CR2032 and CR2025 is the 0.7mm thickness difference. The other factor that varies is the capacity of the battery measured in mAh - the smaller physically the battery is the lower the capacity. Neither of these are usually a problem but you may need to ensure that the contact is still reliable on the battery.
If anyone is interested in these batteries then I have them for sale on my web site!!
Hope that helps.

Subject: 5mx and Qtek 9000
To nic
The Qtek looks indeed as an interesting alternative. The fist PDA with a real keyboard ! I had it in hands in a shop. The keyboard is certainly a good one, but the keys are tinier as those of the Revo. You can't really type with all fingers on that keyboard !
So I think I will still remain with my 5 mx for a while. Because, for me, the 5 mx is my main computer. My PCs are secondary ones. I type everything on the 5 mx. I did that too with the Series 3, but my hands were rapidly aching ! With the 5 mx, long typing is sufficiently comfortable. I could do it with a Revo too, but it's lacking of a CF slot (alas !).
Besides : changing OS is a lot of work. And what about the Macro5 macros ? They make for me nearly half of the ease of working with EPOC. Well, all in all, the Qtek is not worth the inconveniencies of a change for me.

Subject: Bizarre IR-modem problem
I have used the Psion IR modem with good success for many years with my
Psions, and recently acquired a Pegasus IR/serial modem as a backup.
While the Pegasus IR/serial modem works fine in IR mode for
sending/receiving simple emails, as soon as I try to send an attachment,
the connection is instantly dropped.
I'd be very grateful for help in finding settings that would let me
successfully send email attachments from my Psion via the Pegasus
IR/serial modem.
Below are the recommended Psion IR settings for the Pegasus modem -
unfortunately they do not work.
Peter
PSION Pegasus IR: (make sure to run "Sink", otherwise modem disconnects on sending! Sends
pure emails, but still disconnects with attachments)
