Subject: Printing Agenda & Netbook screen

Dear all,
My 7book screen has now blacked out the entire bottom half of the screen, so I'm wondering if it is the chip that controls that which was going and is now gone. I dismantled the 7book again and had a go at cleaning the contacts just in case, but it doesn't seem to have helped. While doing so I did spot where the component is missing from.
I've ringed the row of small green componenets in red. One of these has become detached and I just wondered if anyone knows what they are and whether it might cause the symptoms I'm getting. Firstly jail bars on the lower half of the screen and then a few days later complete failure of the lower half (blank). The fact that there was degrading over time puzzles me, though, if this was the cause. On the other hand these components do seem to be associated with the screen connector.
My second question is whether there is a way to print Agenda files, not as a list of to do's and appointments but as a daily or weekly style print out like Outlook does. I'm guessing (after having googled) that the response will be 'only by synching with Outlook', but I thought I might ask at least.
I haven't yet been able to synch with outlook because it appears that you need to be able to connect the psion to your computer and I only have usb and no (working) usb-serial dongle. I was hoping I might be able to simply transfer the agenda file to the pc using a cf card and open it with psiwin as I do with other files, but that's looking unlikely.
Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance for your collective wisdom.

Ian

No, there was and is no emulator version.
Alternatively, consider Huub Linthorst's CodeSafe. A great app! Written in OPL, so the same program works on both EPOC and emulator.
See http://website.leidenuniv.nl/~linthorsthjm/exabetal/codesafe.html for more info and download.

I have been recommended by Steve Litchfield to email you about my query.
I have 2 Flash disks from my Psion Series 3 which contain business
addresses going back to 1993.  I would dearly like to recover these and
transfer them to a disk, but nobody I've contacted online will do it for me.
Can  you help?  BTW I live in China, but would be willing to send the flash
disks to any address in return for a Windows formatted CD with the
information transferred.  Amusingly, one is 1MB and the other only 512K but
they hold a hell of a lot of information.

Subject: USB-Serial cable

Hello,
Further to my last, I've just managed to find a driver on the web for the no-name USB-Serial cable I have lying around that I was sure wouldn't work.
http://www.usb-drivers.com/drivers/81/81114.htm
It seems to work, but only when I'm logged into XP as an administrator. That means I'm still having difficulties synchronising with my outlook calendar as I can only synchronise as admin. Has anyone else on the list experience of this and do you know how one can work around this. (Or do I have to keep all my Outlook files on the Admin account on my Windows box - a bit of a drag.)
When I try to connect logged in as myself it fails to find a connection. Looking at Properties it appears that none of the COM ports have ticks in the boxes. I tick them and click retry but it still doesn't connect and when I look at Properties again the boxes are again unticked. Is this normal behaviour or something associated with my USB-Serial cable and its driver?
Hoping that someone with more experience of making these things work may be able to give me some pointers. It is a pain to have to log out and re-login to admin whenever I want to transfer anything to or from the Psion. Many thanks in advance.
Ian

I've never heard of a wins version. BUT, I've said it before and will say it again - I use Crypto and it has a wins version. You could create your own "SafePlace" from a Data file then use Crypto to encrypt it and be able to use it on both the Psion and the emulator.
