Hi Itamar,
>>Re.: P910 synching problem - I am far from an expert of synchronising but my idea is to find out if there is a way to reset Outlook to delete all the contents of it's diary. Than you can empty it out before synchronising and than automatically there will be nothing to copy from Outlook back to your PC. <<
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I would like Outlook to simply accumulate the contents of my P910 agenda, so if anything ever gets deleted on my phone by accident, I have a copy in Outlook; deleting the Outlook data every time would prevent this from being possible. It just seems strange that there are not more settings to control how synching should work; my wife has a Palm, and the Hotsync Conduit settings seem to give the user far more control over what should happen.
I may have too look into how to delete Outlook data, as I've had one or two problems with the categories of Agenda items apparently being changed during a sync, which is very annoying. I've even had reminders (ie. items only having a start time) being turned into appointments, ie. items having the same start and finish times; very weird!!
Have you also ever seen the following; I create a new appointment in Agenda, set the time, change it to a Reminder, at which point the start time defaults to 12 o'clock (ie. it forgets the time that I gave it)?
Cheers, Ian.

Sorry Stéphane, don't know of any general purpose databases for e61. There are specific progs e.g. for secure data such as PINs, passwords etc, contact manager, expense trackers, log for lawyers, car manager, money manager, project manager etc.
For simple database you could always use the spreadsheet prog.

Just a quickie. This is now available and has a 12 day trial option. Unlike the inbuilt calendar it supports categories, different fonts and ink colours. It also has some clever extra views. There is also an option to switch profile at the time of an entry eg switch to Meeting or Silent profile for a meeting or lecture. New entries, however, require opening a menu and choosing an option. Not sure if I need all this functionality so have not bought a licence but my last device that had automatic appopintment profile switching was Ericsson t-68 and have missed it a great deal.

This is only of interest to those who have a gmail account or are thinking of getting one.
Google have released a java app for certain models of mobiles. It takes you directly to the web mail interface of gmail (google mail). It works well on E61 (most comments so far, predictably, are about Cingular and the variant E62 they demanded for US market).
I got someone to recommend me (the only way to get a gmail account in UK) today and tried it out. Simple, uncluttered, elegant interface and fast (on 3g). Not sure about attachments at the moment. There is an option to stay connected, preload the email etc.
cheers

Re.: Another screen cable bites the dust - If it worked fine for you up until now, I would repair the 5MX and continue the same way.
I am somehow considering to move from my P910i to an XDA on a contract from O2 in the UK, but am far from sure as I invested in the P910 and can also change to a SIM card contraaact only wiithout phone.
Funny that all the providers in the UK advertise their phones "for free" which is of course a total misrepresentation because if you take a sim card without phone from them you pay considerably less for the contract per month so in fact you do pay for the phone, only in a hidden way. Who said you cannot fool all people all the time .... ?

Re.:  Windows 3.1/ER5 Devices - Can't you use a higher version of Psiwin  ?
No can do, since it appears that any PsiWin past version 1.1 is 32-bit,  not compatible with Windows 3.1 16-bit approach.
I have developed a little workaround which involves the well-made  PCAgenda that reads an ER5 Agenda on the PC and converts it to SIBO  *.agn.
Then you copy that back to the Psion, connect to PsiWin 1.1, and let its SIBO translators turn the agenda into a Schedule+ 7.0 file (7.0 both 16-bit and 32-bit have been made freeware by MS).  There's no synching, only  appending, but at least I have an up-to-date calendar.
As for ER5 word files, I just turn them into RTF files, copy them unconverted via PsiWin to the Windows 3.1 machine where Word 6.0 opens them up  without complaint.

Subject: plBeam problem

To David Steer
I had recently the same problem with version plBeam 1.30 (and also with plFpep). I thought it might be due to the installation of View+ (for 5mx). But I think now it has nothing to do with that.
I did buy the product and I have a code, which is no longer accepted.
We should ask the authors what's going on.
I tried CBeam (works only when installed on C:, and not in all cases, but it can be usefull - gratis, on Martin Guthrie's site).

4th November 1996 was the first entry in my Psion Agenda!  I bought my 3c before that date, but this was my first diary entry using it!  It was a note (with an alarm) to ring a friend!  At the time I was using Lotus organiser on my HP Pavilion PC (150Mghz with an upgraded 96mb and a 2GB disk).  That Christmas I got the modem adapter and the Internet/e-mail suite.  I hardly used the Internet, but I did make good use of the e-mail system.
My 3c is still kept running, has a broken hinge that I glued back.
I upgraded to the Series 5 and about a year later I got a 5mx, then a friend sold me his Series 7 which I had to replace when it got stolen.  Now I have a netBook which I have been using for about 2 years.  And I am sticking with my Psion till I won't work any more.
When did you start using your first Psion?
David
