Hi all,
Itamar updated the datafiles, containing all topics of Digests from #0001 up to #1033.
You can find them at
http://www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/database.zip
Besides this you will find the text file with the same topics, exported from these datafiles at

Hi Itamar and all !,
I think manufacturers are finally realising that a thumb-board or keyboard is essential for fast text input,
also this is the solution the general public will be most comfortable with - look at the success of the Blackberry.
Graffiti was fine for geeks.
I still marvel at the keyboard of the 5mx Psion and it's mechanism.
Personally I'm in favour of a more general digest as I've been a contented Treo 600 owner for two years now.
Surely the current name of 'The Digest' already doesn't imply any Psion content already though?
Regards,
Mike Dyer.

Since I stopped using my dear old Psions, I used Palm and Windows Mobile operating systems. I never liked the Palm OS but I do like the Windows Mobile OS. However I never found any handheld Operating System as performing, advanced and most of all as clever as the Symbian OS.
The line of thought of Psion managerial team during the second half of the nineties was that the manufacturing of handhelds, and especially their after sales servicing was too costly, no enough cost effective and therefore not profitable enough. This is why Psion had to withdraw from producing handhelds to concentrate on developing their excellent OS and extending it to mobile telephones.

A couple of years ago I bought a Fujitsu Siemens FS-720. At the time it
was of the highest spec. available with a full VGA screen. I bought it
for thinks that my 3mx/5mx/Revo+/7/nB could not do - display
photographs. It has a CF slot _and_ an SD slot. My digital cameras
(Canon G2/Nikon 3100/ Canon 350D) all have a CF slot.
Displaying photos is about all it's worth using for, although the screen
is very small, it's quality is better than my 7/nB.
It has both a normal USB connector and an Host USB connector, but I
still can not connect my Garmin 2610 GPS as there are no drivers for it!
The FS-720 was a waste of money.
I have however, after spending out on a serial cable, been able to
connect my eMap GPS and use some software, but the Tomtom (Palmtop on
EPOC) software wont run.

Subject: Question to the Subscribers
Hi folks, and Happy New Year to all.
Itamar, I really appreciated the Digest Team's response to my request/suggestion about expanding the parameters of postings. I note your suggestions regarding possible new names, eg Smartphone Digest and Handheld Digest, and will be voting as you kindly suggested. However, IMHO it would have to be "Handheld", surely, in this instance, as "Smartphone" would straightaway exclude all Psion machines? Also, many people (I, for one) prefer PDAa separate to their phones, so why just not open the forum to all handhelds (within reason), and not just smartphones, please?
Kindest regards,
Kevin (West Cork, Ireland)
PS Whatever the outcome, I truly want to thank the Digest Team for providing this excellent digest week in, week out, bless you all!
