Re.: Help! - with Revo, Mako,  Mbook and model 5 - I can't answer all your questions but here are some that hopefully will help you.

- Malaybook : First of all the OS image file must be in the root folder of the card and not in a sub-folder. It must have the right name OS.IMG and than it should start automatically. It could be you have got the wrong OS.IMG file as each version, netBook and Malaybook have their own.
- Connection : Not being able to connect usually is a matter of setting the correct port and speed of connection. First check that your serial port on the PC is COM1 or another one and set Psiwin to that port. Than check that both the Diamond and Psiwin use the same connection speed, I think 57,600 is the best. And silly of course, don't forget to switch on the link on the Diamond. Another problem could be that other software on your PC got hold of the same port and does not release it. do a restart and don't start any other software but Psiwin.
- Back-up battery : This is a known problem. Try and put a piece of paper folded over several times or a small piece of cardboard on top of the battery and close the compartment. This will push the battery down and restore the contact.

Success,

Itamar

Best regards,

Itamar

Subject: Clearout...

After many years of happy, productive and largely trouble-free Psion usage, I migrated up to a PDA when my third 5mx hinge broke.  I have delayed clearing the old Psion stuff out, partly because it's a bit like getting rid of an old friend! Anyway, I have bitten the bullet and have a stack of Palmtop (nos. 13 [Jul 97] - 37 inclusive) &Palmtop User (nos. 1-12 [missing no 9] ) magazines and a box full of Psionaria - 3 broken machines, various cables, manuals, boxes, holders, IR modem, docking station and sundry odds &sods - to dispose of.
Would any of this be of interest to anyone out there - primarily in the UK because of shipping costs, I suppose.

I was thinking of putting them on eBay, but thought I'd test the water here first;&  if enough interest is shown I'll sort them out and put them on eBay (and post here to alert subscribers to what's going on!).
Best wishes

Kit

} FYI, At home I backup to the PC almost every day. On tour, I use Ralph
Spenger's backup program sent to automatically backup the C drive to the
D drive each night. You can use any automatic backup program -
FastBackup is very good but needs CronTab to run automatically - Ralph's
timing is built in.

Keith I use FastBackup.  If I were to add CronTab, does this run even if
the Psion is switched off?  i.e. will it 'wake-up' like the 3a with an
incoming connection.

If not then what's the advantage.

Alan
