I sorry to say, but neither Nokia Maps (aka Smart2Go), nor TomTom for the Psion, will work with your Nokia 9500.

What you need is TomTom Mobile 5 (for 9500 or Series 80, not Series 60), which from my own experience (I have it on my 9500) works very well....  BUT this seems to be discountinued, and I couldn't find it for sale anywhere now :-(

Maybe you can find someone with a second hand copy (say via Ebay), but I'm not sure if it would work on your 9500 (since I have a feeling it may lock itself to the original device it was installed on).

You might be better off just buying a self-contained TomTom device, which would probably not cost much more anyway.

Question on using Agenda.  After 5 or 6 years, my agenda file is getting big (although not too bad as I don't use the links to sketch or To Do list).  I know I can save it as an old agenda for backup purposes but I would then like to keep the last year only and clear the earlier 4 years for a smaller quicker Agenda?  I see the 'Tidy/archive file' selection under the FILE menu- does that do exactly what I want?
TG

Yes That is exactly what you want. I suggest breaking the agenda up into years, because that seems sensible. Then it is easy to open old years, archive off the Psion any you wish to retain, but not read. Best idea is to do a complete backup and then play. If you get messed up delete and restore and try again. Tidy deletes and archive copies and deletes if I recall correctly. Also doing this makes it much easier to not get muddled and end up opening an entry from a previous year and does make backups and opening the agenda much quicker.

Re.: Windows 6 - evolutionary - You wrote that "This also means any WM 5
application should work on WM6 without any questions". Is this indeed correct ?  It is always one of the sticky points when upgrading to the next level, will my current programs still work ?

Answer to: Bob H

Re.: Tom Tom - The maps would probably work but the program would not AFAIK. All the EPOC versions of the TomTom program will work only on EPOC machines.

Best regards,

Itamar

Re.: Agenda - Yes, the "Tidy/Archive" function does exactly what you want. It will cut off the Agenda file at a date choosen by you and than archive the older data to a new file to be named by you and everything beyond that dat stays in the Agenda file.

Re.: do not back up - I canoot stress often enough, back up, back up, back up. You might keep your immediate data safe but you will loose all your settings of all the programs you use which keep their .INI files on the internal disk. I use the program SpBackup and every day but for Saturday (when my phone is off) at 4 am it wakes up the phone, makes a back-up, does a reset and switches the phone off again. I never have to think about it, and it keeps always the last 3 back-ups. Save yourself a tremendous head-ache and back up !!!
Re. TomTom - I went to their website and opened a ticket by sending an email to their support team. Usually you get an answer within 2 working days, sometimes faster. They have been very good with answering me. The folder 2577 is in the root folder of the storage disk, right at the top the first folder. Next time you go into your Navigator program delete the last route so there is no route present and than it will not automatically recalculate the route.
TomTom on the EPOC machines was first called Route- and Streetplanner which later evolved into City Planner and Enroute. I still have both programs on my netBook and it works very well, even with a GPS. I used it until recently for routes between European countries. However, I bought the new UK map and received Navigator 6 with it for free and it comes with the main roads of Western Europe as well so I wil not need it anymore.

Best regards,

Itamar
