Subject: SMS via Infrared problems between MC218 and Nokia 9500
Dear Friends,
the several emails about IR, 5mx and Nokia 9500, are reminding me that ...I also have an Infrared problem....
Foreword:
I have always successfully sent my SMS (text) messages, by previously composing them on the keyboard of my MC218 and then easily beaming the same - via Ir ports - to my old Ericsson SH888 phone
Now, seen the various advantages that the MC218 keyboard, has over the Nokia 9500 keyboard, EVEN using such phone, I still would prefer sending my text messages in the same way (compose on the MC218, rather than directly on the phone and beam them via Ir to the Nokia 9500) but ...no way !
I always receive the following error msg: "Could not send any SMS messages - No response from phone - Ensure phone is connected and switched on and check Modem settings"
Please note that:
1) such problem occurs even though I ...remember (!) to activate the Ir port on the 9500 and ...before (!) the relevant (automatic) timeout...
2) such procedure, still perfectly works between the same (!) MC218 and my old SH888
3) the same Nokia 9500, perfectly receives text or image files, sent via Ir from the MC218, having the Ir ports in the same "face to face" position and distance
4) the following sw is installed and active on the MC218 :
- plBeam IrObex(c) PSI NT 1.30
- Mobile Connectivity Update 2.00
5) even if I think that they are not critical in this case, the modem settings are:
SPEED 115200 baud
CONNECT VIA Infrared
FAX CLASS Auto
6) the same problem happens even using a different MC218
Any good idea, help or experience would be highly appreciated !
Have nice day !
:-)

I have two Mbooks with US power supplies modems, and WiFi cards. One has slight connector problem (has to be pushed once every week or so). Am holding onto my two 5mx and moving to Palm TX for email and PIM.
If interested in purchasing the Mbook please contact me off list.

Does anyone know where I can download Sergio Alisi's macros? The original urls in the digest no longer work.
Best wishes,

hello, Can someone who has actually tried out Vista - or bought a Vista-running PC - confirm that indeed Psion PsiWin does NOT run on Vista? Can someone with he same experience please clarify whether Nokia PC Suite works well with Vista?
Hi Franco, my experience with Vista and Psion-software is *very* positive. PsiWin works fine, no problems with re-connecting, or for that matter with anything else, whatsoever. Also DSlink does its job nicely. I find the combination Netbook & Vista absolutely satisfying. As for the Nokia suite (yes, I bought a 9300i, thinking it could work as a replacement for my Netbook…) no problems there either!
