The keypad is correct for telephones. 123 across the top and the zero centre bottom.
BT made a BAD mistake when they created the first press-button phone in the 80s. They did not copy computer layout.
So touch typists can't dial correctly on phones, and fast telephone operators can't use the keypad on computers.

Thanks for this great tip! It appears you don't even need to press
Menu, as Chr+Tab opens it for you. So simply holding Chr, and then
pressing Tab a few times, allows switching to any app :-))))

Subject: Re: Tone in a S80
* Subject: Tone in a S80
* I can give every user in my contacts, Nokia S80, an other tone. Go to
* you contact. Open the card. Push (Ctrl+R) and select the tone you want
* for that user. After that go to 'Telephone' push (Shift+Ctrl+P)
* Profile preferences, choose your profile, go to personal tone and set
* it to 'on'.
* I did that all, but for that contact I get always the general tone.
* I delete the contact and I introduce the contact after that as a new
* contact. With the same result, the general tone.
* Then a reset. Same result, always the general tone.
* I delete the contact from the simm-card, but it is in my contacts.
* Reset, and I got the general tone.
* I made a group, put that contact into that group
* After that to 'Telephone' (Shift+Ctrl+P), last card (play for)
* Tone - All calls.
* Vrienden - Yes.
* Same result, the general tone.
* Reset
* Same result, the general tone.
* Now my questions:
* 1 - What did I wrong or
* 2 - What else could I do, to let it work???
SOLVED
It's a multiple problem.
1 - Our fixed line number was in 4 cards (family members). So I removed that number and put it in a new card 'Home'. Bingo I got the special ring tone.
2 - But, after a few days I got the general ring tone again, and a few day after that it work again in the right way. Strange, strange, strange, because I did nothing special, at least I thought so. Yesterday it worked fine, this morning it failed.
What did I in meanwhile? A backup with the built-in backup program. After a reset it works fine again. After that I closed Contacts manual and then a backup, same result, general tone, after the reset the special tone came from the loudspeaker
Summarise
If you work with a special ring tone do a reset after a backup and a phone number is only permitted in one card.

Kees.

Thank you, Ashley.
I found that Pinnock Organiser Services would do the necessary. They were reluctant to take my money saying that I could download a new ROM image myself, but I preferred to pay for their expertise.
Nice to find that they still operate as they did when they fixed my Psions. 24 hour turn around.
It turns out that my SD card , an Ultra, is incompatible with the Universal so Pinnocks advised me to copy the back up to a different card.
The moral is that you nust check the validity of your back-ups.

Subject: Repeat calls for help
I've received no advice in response to two queries I've posted in the last two months. So I'm posting them again, since my use of my psion computers is seriously limited as a result of my indability to solve these two problems:
1. I'm trying to connect a new Mako to my PC - and getting nowhere. I can't register the machine because I always fail to connect. I"ve had this problem before, but cannot remember how it got solved - and am not sure I ever knew why or how I finally succeeded. I've set it up for 115,200 speed after failing at the "maximum attainable" setting and I've tried various COMM settings, all to no avail. The two machines are definitely connected by the cable from the Mako cradle - and I've been all through the Help file about how to connect the two. Can anyone suggest what may be amiss? I would very much like to get the backed up files off the PC and onto the new Mako. (Since originally posting this message, I have been able to transfermy agenda file and contacts (one by one at a time) from the Mako to my Malay book via infrared. But this is a very clumsy solution. I also find that I can no longer get a connect the Mbook to my PC via PsiWin in order to back it up. Nor can I connect either the Mako or the Mbook to my laptop in order to backup or restore files. Does anyone have any suggestions --- PLEASE? Might it help to reinstall PsiWin?
2. After assorted false starts, Opera on my Mbook now works anywhere in my house (covered by a 2wire router) and in assorted open sites.
Because the country house is remote, I could readily remove the security protection. But the wi-fi at our other house in town is a secured site to which I have access with my Dell lap top because I've entered a security number from the bottom of the router in the setup for the
Dell. But I don't know where to enter that on the Mbook. Can anyone instruct me about how to do that? It would be a great convenience to avoid taking my heavy laptop into town every time I go there.
I'm very anxious about inability to backup my two Psions -- and it would simplify life a lot if I could connect to that secure wifi site.
But I'm sure that AT&T won't customer service won't be able to help with EPOC. They don't even want to deal with Linux.

Subject: Psion5 Web Site
It's been exactly 1 year since any sign of Martin Guthrie has been seen on his Pscience5 site. Does anyone know him personally, know what's happened to him?. Do you think his site will keep going? Any way all that info could be transferred to PsionWiki?
