Subject: Eee PC with WinXP?

Hi,

I would be interested in hearing user feedback about Asus Eee PCs running
WinXP. Since all my Psion, PPC and Palm syncronization software is
XP-compatible, WinXP would probably make more sense for me than Linux.
Plus, the Psion emulator should also work well on the Eee PC under WinXP.

Hi all replacement seekers!

look here (a mini-computer):
http://www.fukato.com/pageID_5789107.htmland here (a keyboard phone):
http://www.pdastreet.com/articles/2008/5/2008-5-20-Review-Samsung-SCH.htmland here (the OLPC-two-touchscreen mini-computer):
http://www.zdnet.de/news/hardware/0,39023109,39191121,00.htm
But however not entirely satrisfactory. I'm not going to retire my MX5, although I am slowly using the MacBook facilities. Rumours have it that Apple is working on some sort of new Newton. The iPhone is a beauty, but not what I hoped.

best,

Itamar,

I'm in the same position as you, with the same phone, but I've been looking for one with a keyboard. Trouble is, the 'family descendent', the HTC TyTN II, is _way_ too expensive, probably because of the built-in GPS receiver.

A friend of mine went for the HTC Touch. This runs WM6, and looks like a very nice phone. It doesn't have a keyboard so is much slimmer/lighter than the Wizard/9100. Take a look at the HTC website (www.htc.com/www/product.aspx?id=356). There are more recent variants of this phone too (including one with a sliding numberic keypad, and one with a sort-of alpha pad).

Hope this helps, and do please report on your progress.

Ed.

P.S. As you appreciate, different networks will give this phone a different name.

Hello Chris,

*  May it rest in peace.  (Except for those die-hards still using it!)

I'm still using my netBook everyday and run it with the battery of the netBook Pro, so I can use it for more the 11 ours!!!
But for on the move I use a 9300i and I like that phone.

* Plus I have ported (but not released) FastBackup for it, since the
* built-in backup utility is not incremental.

This is good news. The backup function of the S80 isn't superb, is it possible that I can beta-test the FastBackup for the S80?

Kind regards,

Kees.

Hi,
I read in a German newspaper, that only in GB is selling the mini PC "Elonex One" for 130 Euro.
Did someone know, what for a PC is this. Can it replaces the netBook?

Thanks for any replies.

Best Regards

Rolf

Ji,

I finally tracked down my issue with Word and Exce files which won;t transfer to the PC correctly. The phone they fail with has version 4.44 software and the phone they work with has version 4.51. Sadly the newer phone has afault, and Nokia Service centre said it could not be fixed.

Now does anyone know if they can update/upgrade the software (firmware?) on the phone? if so, how long and how much?

Thanks.

Yours John.
