Are you aware of the IR bug in the netBook OS? Specifically, if the 'Switch off after' time in the Control Panel is set to 30 minutes or more, then the IR doesn't work. Actually, I vaguely think that this bug is a general EPOC one but what akes it particularly relevant in the netBook is that when the machine is reset, you guessed it, the 'Switch off after' time sets itself to 30 minutes...
Thinking about it, this is an obvious little OPO/Macro to be run on reset/start up isn't it? I'll generate it and publish shortly...
Best regards,
Martin Guthrie

Fyi:
http://www.psionplace.com/software/series5/PsiCards-2000-09-14-psion-series5 .html#details
Lists only version 1.8 and no web-site.
:-) No, thanks, I uninstalled it because it is addictive, but I played with it on a 5mx with no problems.
May Astrid's problem be caused by corrupt prefs (like when I was instructed to delete system/data/mru or something like this after installing some game, because tipping on most recently used would reset my 5MX). Btw, I still have to find out what all t ese arcane names in the system are for, but we've had that a while ago...

Hi All
Malcolm mentioned paperclips. There are apps for the Psion called resetplus and sysback.
Resetplus makes a great saving on paperclips!
Look at: -
http://www.mypsion.ru/resetplus.php
and then also install: -
http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~nicko/sysback.htm
to get your settings back to how they were

Subject: Netbook Ethernet cards
I am interested in aquiring a PCMCIA wired network card for my Netbook and was wondering what the best compatible products are? I already have a 3Com Etherlink III card that I can not get to work. It is not a cardbus device, but clearly is incompatible with Psion Gold Card drivers.
The only 2 device choices in the Ethernet control panel that are not WiFi or Infra red are Psion Dacom Gold Card and Psion Gold Card and I think one of them may relate to a modem rather than a LAN card. I could purchase a Psion Gold Card PCMCIA etherne card, but am wondering if there are any better products that maybe have less power consumption or are combo cards. I know there are 56K + 10/100 Psion combo cards, but do these work on a Netbook?
Any assistance would be appreciated

Subject: Reading a Smart Media Card
Hi All
Some time ago I was bemoaning the fact that since upgrading to OS158 from OS156 I could no longer read smart media cards using a PC card adaptor in my netBook. I had convinced myself that it was the OS upgrade. Don't confuse me with the facts I have ma e my mind up as my ex-wife used to say!
Now that I have a spare netBook I reverted it back to OS156 and guess what? Yes it suddenly started reading the SM card. So I put the SM card into my new netBook and shock, horror probe (!) it read the card as well. Now all I have got to do is put OS15 back on the old netBook, but I get the feeling that the card will be read perfectly. Well it would be no fun if it all followed a logical pattern!
As a matter of interest I then tried a spare SM card in both netBooks and it could not be read. Its only 8mb so size isn't the answer (or doesn't matter!). The camera reads both cards without problems. A re-format of the card may sort this out though.< p>
It is wonderful to finally have the problem sorted out though!

Re.: netBook Pro Symbian - First of all I don't have a "vendetta" at all, and in my various earlier messages wished the project success. Yes, _personally_ I am pessimistic about it and don't see it come of the ground. But who knows, if it does I might ven buy one to replace my by than "old" S7, but that will depend _for me_ to a large extend on which software will be available and not.

Re. STD access no - Compuserve is not free, but I do have a London number for them if you want it (020 - 7.....). Re. Nokia 92.. - It sounds certainly interesting. The main disadvantage is that such a machine is also a phone. If you can't switch on the PDA part without the phone part, you can't use it in airplanes or in a meeting where you need the details in the PDA but don't want to be disturbed by phonecalls. Otherwise, as said sounds interesting.

Re. xray machine at airport - My S7 went many times through X-ray machines but never had any problems (knock knock).
To All:
Re. Fload - Is anyone working with this program ? I loaded it on the machine, loaded 3 fonts and did a soft reset. I noticed the 3 fonts loading before the shell came up. However, if I open Word or Sheet the fonts are not available. Am I missing someth ng or is this program not to use the fonts in the resident programs ? Can anyone help ?

<< On Claranet's website, go to "Services > Home Access > Free Trial" and sign up...>>
Thanks for that, Mike. I've given it a go & it works a treat. When I saw the free trial on the website I just assumed it was some time limited trial of their subscription services so I didn't bother clicking on it to find out anymore (t at'll teach me to jump to conclusions, eh!)
And thanks to both Mike & Mark for the STD access number/s.

Subject: S5 hard case for free
Hello everyone,
Have just left Epoc world, and very much impress, happy and contented (so far) with my new HP Ipaq 5450. Disposed of my netBook, Series 5 and their accessories. Or so I thought. Just found out that I still have the Proporta black hard-case for Series 5 I think Revo will fit in it too. Any takers?
Anyone interested in the magazine Palmtop-User from Issue 1 (July 2002) to Issue 5 (August 2003)? Email me. They're yours for free.
Cheers,
Saj

If the techies get their way, it should also include a microphone. It will run either EPOC or Palm OS; they've yet to decide.>
Wow. Not one but TWO new possibilities to replace my beloved dear departed 5mx with something more pocketable and up to date than my current S7! The 9200 series Nokia is almost (but not quite) already there as a 5mx replacement but currentl lacks Bluetooth and a usable amount of RAM for serious palmtop use. A souped up version of the Revo sounds even more exciting but I just have a horrible feeling they would make it run Palm OS if it ever came to be, making my existing software incom atible. I await further information with great anticipation!

If, indeed, POS releases a color screened REVO with mega memory, I will buy more than one for sure. However, they can skip the microphone and it had better be an EPOC system or I am not interested. Better yet, how about an updated 5MX with he color and newer operating system?

Hi!
Does anyone know how I can get the weeknumber in my calendar-app on an MX?
Which glue is better for the cover of the MX?
A thin crack at the hinge - I thought I'd prevent it from spreading...
Many thanks!
