I've had similar problems in the past, which were solved by formatting the
card in my wife's camera. This is obviously not an ideal solution,
particularly if you don't have a camera which uses CF...
I did a quick Google search, and came up with the following at
http://www.compactflash.org/
"CompactFlash® User Alert
By default, Windows XP will format any CompactFlash card having a capacity
greater than 32MB with the FAT32 format. Most digital cameras use the FAT
(FAT16 & FAT12) format and can not operate with a FAT32 formatted card.
Either format your CompactFlash card in your camera or select FAT file
system to format your CompactFlash card with a Windows XP PC."
Hope this helps, cheers, Ian.

Hi Folks,
Jack referred me to http://www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/index.html which I knew of but it's an archive of *this* digest, not its predecessor, UPS5Digest. I'm looking for an archive of UPS5D.
Happy days,

How far does the Symbian compatability extend ?
Does anybody know if it is possible to transfer/convert database file
on Psion 5mx to the above mobile phone ?
Your advice would be appreciated.

Re.: Science - Quite right, but in the end the science of today might be disproven again by the science of tomorrow, just like once they thought it was proven that the earth is flat. Quantum physics has come a long way from the original theories earlier 20th century and Darwin has also been discussed again as just one possible theory. Science continues to evolve and update itself.
And to be frank the theory of evolution as how we got to where we are will continue to be a theory, unless we are able to, in the future, observe past temporal events and confirm it through observation. Please note, the vast majority of scientists do not dispute the science behind how things might have evolved. The processes of biological evolution is not disputed. In fact evolution can still be seen happening today and will continue to happen. Which means moving forward, evolution is happening and not just a theory. :) Most of the 'laws' we read in High-school are shown to be not entirely correct but are useful for digestion at that age, bearing in mind most people will not be studying the subject beyond secondary level. Having said all that, the theory of evolution as how we got to life as we know it today is a very convincing theory and supported by evidences. No other scientific theory has the same body of evidence. The difference between real science and other crack-pot science or otherwise, is that when presented with convincing evidence that disproves the old theory, they are willing to let the old one go and adopt it. I look forward to learning of such.
Warm regards,
Koi Hin

Subject: Rogue Fax accounts
Dear All,
I have a couple of rogue Fax accounts in Mail, which I'm not sure how to get rid of. They are only visible from Tools - Account Settings, but I would quite like to delete them if possible.
Cheers, Ian.

Except the flatness of the Earth was mediaeval opinion, not
science.
After all, the diameter of the Earth had been measured
geometrically in Egypt by Erastosthenes in 230 BC!

Thanks for the comment Chris, but it's not an ISP problem. I've only had the need to reset once due to a hang while connected, although that could have been the cause for that one occasion. It's been generally unstable often while using Micro5 features, but Micro5 is used just as much on all my other EPOC Psions, without a problem.
The short time since a hard reset after installing the 32 Mb module, it's been stable.
Thanks again.

Subject: Re: Broadband advice
To Itamar,
And, for that matter, anybody who uses broadband. The default settings shipped with WiFi routers, modems and access points and that defaulted in the software for the PC cards etc are very insecure!
If someone was able to pick your signal up (note, some WiFi enthusiasts can pick up signals from as far away as 3 miles!) then they can easily use your broadband connection - not a problem in itself, however, it is not unknown for someone to use someone else's connection to carry out illegal activity as this would be very hard to trace and might cause the subscriber some problems. Also, something that people may not be aware of, that someone might be able to get at all the files on your PC due to the peer to peer mode on the cards that seems, by default, to be active.
Psions will not have any particular security issues but your broadband connection and PC might.
WiFi is great but please use with caution and spend some time to understand the security settings on your router etc. For example, all Netgear routers are shipped with the same IP address, they identify themselves as a Netgears and they have the same user name and password set for access to the router.

David Steer

What if the sender uses spamarrest too? Is your confirmation mail then caught by his spamtrap?
If yes, the system is useless, because it blocks communication between users.

I installed some software on my Mako that it is not possible to uninstall, and have since done a back-up. How can I revert to an earlier backup, please?
