I have just received the very shocking news that Darryl Kempster, a longstanding and active member of the digest, was murdered in South Africa while on tour with the the stage show "Lord of the Dance". I met Darryl a couple of times as he bought some old Psion stuff from me. This is really shocking news. We will always remember him for his readiness to help others on this digest from wherever he was. Although they will not read this, we wish his family strength in these difficult times. Below is the full story from The Guardian (UK newspaper) :

A six-week tour of the stage show Lord of the Dance was in jeopardy last

night  after a British crew member was murdered in South Africa.

Darryl Kempster, 37, of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, was shot three times

on the  steps of a hotel in Johannesburg early yesterday morning after

the Saturday evening  performance of the dance show.

Last night members of the crew and cast, many of whom had witnessed the

apparent  robbery attempt and tried to resuscitate Mr Kempster, were

said to be devastated.

Michael Flatley, the creator of the show, flew to South Africa last

night and was  expected to decide today whether to cancel the remaining

four weeks of the tour.

Mr Kempster had been working with the production as a merchandising

executive for  five months.

Sergeant Sanku Tsunke of Johannesburg police said the gunman shot Mr

Kempster three  times and fled with his laptop and shoulder bag.

Geraldine Roche of Chris Roche Publicity, the publicists for the show,

said last  night: "Darryl was walking up the steps of the hotel, which

is adjacent to the  theatre, when a man approached and shot him. Many of

the crew and cast, who were  either in the hotel lobby or behind the

victim, witnessed the shooting and tried to  help him.

"Darryl had been working with Lord of the Dance for about five months,

touring in  America before South Africa."

Lord of the Dance, seen by more than 50 million people in nearly 40

countries since  it started seven years ago, was two weeks into its tour

of Johannesburg, Port  Elizabeth and Cape Town.

It was already the country's most successful box office show grossing

R60m (£5.2m)  and playing to more than 200,000 people.

Both yesterday's planned performances were cancelled.

Mr Flatley devised, wrote, choreographed, produced and directed the

extravagant  dance show. It currently has four troupes touring the

globe.<<

<Re. Moonclock - Installed the program on d and it works (for now) without problems. It looks very nice on the screen. <However, the program "Moon" also gave the date of th enext full moon, but indeed it has no data after 2004.

I loaded  a version of  Moonclock  quite a while ago   onto my 5MX  ( Touch Wood)   have  never had any problem with it.  it does exactly as it says on the box  and  I  note looking at the Moon last night  in the UK  that it is very much in sync  with the phase of the moon.  For information I loaded  it exactly as the install instruction stated.

Anywhere on the PsiWin CD-ROM there is an sis (I guess) which installed at your Psion provides some syncronisation between the eMail-App and Outlook (an additional point in the menu of email appears). I haven't tested it because I haven't ever used Outlook, but I'm sure this "plugin" exists.

Hope I could help you...

I thought you did a wonderful job.  Thanks.

P.S.  Am I hallucinating, or was there an early Psion model that had a butterfly keyboard?  A clamshell that when you lifted the lid, the keyboard elongated.  I remember it costing a fortune at the U.S. Radioshack chain.

Re.: Navigator in car - Why should I purchase a newer Garmin if my current eTrex works 100% with the Psion ?  what would it do more for the Psion/garmin combination ?  Of course, if using it alone by itself a newer updated model would be better. I think I will continue to use this combination until my Psion's have died and than jump to a Palmtop in combination with blue tooth GPS to get rid of all the cables in the car.

Subject: Extractring and sorting agenda information

Dear Epoc CoDigesters,

I have been challenged by this task for years using Psions -- I must admit that I haven't found a good solution: one that is easy to effect and elegant.

My week is comprised of consultations with clients interspersed with other activities.  I want to be able to extract from my agenda the client visit

information: date, time of visit, client name(actually initials), some sort of text symbol indicating that the meeting actually took place . . . .

Then I want to sort the records by client (all of John's consultations together, all of Jane's consultations together) by date.

I'm currently using a Series 3c; but the potential to get better results on this one task could send me looking for a 5MX.

I've tried to effect this task with Agenda Dump on the Series 3c and with Agenda Print on my Series 5 and Revo.  Neither tool quite does the task: Agenda Dump screws up dates. I forget why Agenda Print was deficient.

I've tried distinct year symbols and other tricks, culling by tidying, I forget what else.

Any thoughts please?  This seems like something that should be accomplished handily with our Psions.

TIA /Stephen Stone
