Hi Vlad,
I am in Washington State, at least we are on the same coast.  I have been using Earthlink ever since my first Psion in 1994 and it works great. Actually it started as Sprynet, then into Compuserv, and then Mindspring and then Earthlink.  You know how everyone keeps buying everyone out.  So you really have to pay attention to who you have on anything any more.  I will say that Earthlink is very helpful with very good customer service.  Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Chris,
I have downloaded your new TubeRoute, even thought in the states, I travel to England quite often as my wife is from England.  So the Tube thing is kind of cool.  I downloaded it looks like line 4 for example, do you have to do the same for all of it, download all the lines on your .sis file or is there a way to down load the whole think as a package or folder of its own. If not I can download it all and make a folder for it.

Thanks,
Bob

Reply to Bernard Hill:

I used to have the reset problem with my P800, a couple of times a week at least.  It seems to have been fixed since I had the firmware upgraded to latest version.

Hello John, hello Cris,

Who is the programmer of TubeRoute?
Next Week I'm in Honkong again.
Is it possible to create a TubeRoute map for Honkong?
Or - how can I do it by myself?

Best regards from the Harz hills
Norbert

Re.: P800 points - I don't have the P800 but still would like to make some remarks.
If you change a battery, how long will the data on the internal disk be safe without a battery (also interesting to know if you are out of town without charger with a very low battery) ?
I have my P910 for a week now and no request for resets at all. I have not yet worked out all the different beeps and signs, still have to streamline these.
I suppose they gave the P910 a new handwriting program as on the P910 it is very fast in my experience, more so if you get the hang of how to write the letters. I find that what helps is also to write as much as possible to the left of the screen to avoid hitting other text input lines on the screen, that is when the cursor jumps.
The diary program is indeed poor, but there are alternatives available for not that much money that will make your Tunsten T obsolete.

Re.: 'Active Desk' - Well, why don't you give us a decsription of this program to let us know why this is the case ?
As to the keyboard, for serious text input of course I agree with you but to enter or amend a contact detail, enter an appointment etc. it is more than acceptable.

"Hi
Has anyone else come across the OQO pocket PC.  It looks to be very cool although it is expensive and doesn't have great battery life.  Still a definite step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned."

Hello Todd,

Actually it seems to me not very good.

What I would like like to see produced - and miss much from the demise of "our" Epoc machines is:

* something in the form factor of the OQO, the old Psion 5MX, the Jornadas 720 / 728,
* perhaps a bit smaller than the Psion 7/Netbook, but larger than the Revo and the Sony UX 50, but
* with a fully usable touch-type keyboard
* an OS which is at the same time powerful enough for managing files, sophisticated PIM, instant on/off, auto saving and going back to appls, has rather powerful Word & Excel-like appls + good communication
* larger battery life than a laptop.

To get that, I am ready to forego (I the sense that I can pay the price, not in the sense that it would not be nice), an OS which can burn CDs and DVDs, run Photoshop or can sequence  DNA sequences. For that you have lots of Windows machines (at one dime an ounce, or one pound a pound, or a few euros a kilo - depending on where you live) and a few Apple OS X likely doing all of that better for more money and - likely for now - often a bit slower - perhaps G5 sequences proteins in a cluster faster ??? Ask Virginia Tech...

From what I gathered, the OQO has an awful thumboard, it takes ages to run, is of course not instant on/off because indeed runs XP etc.

Note that I am not Window-bashing, I have a Toshiba laptop running XP and it is a good machine and a decent OS.

But it seems that OQO offers precisely (XP) what I do not need in a mini laptop replacement and none of what I have in my aging and still kicking MC 218 (the clone to the 5 MX). But still miss colour in my MC 218.

Perhaps the good step - I am striving to be an optimist - is that OQO pushes the idea of something small with a keyboard, away from the Palm form-factor. But no more than that.

Sony-Psion anyone ?

Cheers to anyone on the digest,

>>Reply to Bernard Hill:

I suspect your p800 battery is not a Sony Ericsson original and although working perfectly does not 'talk' to the phones operating system properly?
<<

Quite possibly, thanks.

>>My p800 clicks three times once a day when logging onto GPRS perhaps your phone is set to disconnect from GPRS when an incoming call appears, and then to reconnect afterwards, hence your multiple clicks?
<<

I'm not on GPRS and the phone clicks at times without an incoming call.
Strange.

>>My p800 has never asked me to reset it in the 4 months I've owned it.
<<

It  may be connected with the fact that I move through areas of no connectivity quite often?

Re.: Macro5 for revo beta - Sorry can't help you. However, when will the Symbian UIQ version be in beta ?  There I can  help !  <BG>

Answer to: Mike Dyer

Re.: UIQ Phones - After my initial reporting I have hit a busy time at work and can't give it the same attention at the moment. I have not yet used Quickword, also as without a proper keyboard what is the use of it ?   I'll try and copy the T610 ringtonesw to my P910, but the annoying thing is that the T610 will not do anything without a SIM card in it, and so have to switch around to do that.    I have used email once, but did not get around yet to playing more with it (do all my emailing on the mBook).   Asto Active Desk, checking my index file of all the digests I can't find a subject of neither active nor desk. Are you sure it was in this digest you discussed it ?

Is the bug with the keyboard software particularly to that make keyboard or is it the same with all makes ?
