AS long as you have the latest Psiwin 2.3.3 on your PC Psiwin works fine with
Windows XP.
Thanks,
Bob

Prar,
I have been running XP Service Pack 2 with my PC for some time now and have not
had any issues with PsiWin connection, synchronisation or file conversion
tools. I also run Emulators for the Series 5mx/7/netBook anf the Nokia
9210 and have experienced no problems there.
It is advisable with any such update that you back up your data and set your
restore poing prior to implemting XP SP2 then in the event of a problem it can
be backed out. Also, once installing XP SP2 and testing that the system
still works, you should also run Windows Update to install some hot fixes - I
have these installed also and have nod had any problems.
The only issue I have has been with USB 2. When I try connecting USB card
readers so that I can read my Psion Card directly it gets through most of the
install process then crashes. Good job I have wireless and and FTP server
on my PC so that I can transfer files through the air! Very handy since I
receinltly transferred 13 MP3 files to my Psion (A total of about 36MB and did
it in about 30 minutes! Try that over PsiWin!

David

Hello Daniel
Question: Has anyone experience with Email and Cingular in the USA or
Voicestream and can offer guidance as to set up and use with a Series 7.
VoiceStream in the US works great with PSION - setup is fairly straight
forward, u would just need to know what phone your using and the dialup # for
GPRS or GSM (you can email direct with subject : series 7 GPRS)
Have now changed over to VoiceStream GPRS and what a difference - Ericsson T610
with IR port connects great with 5mx & netbook (and you don't have to
sacrifice faxing with this phone)

You are not the first. From what I've read in this Digest plus in other Psion
forums, only a very few people have reported problems with WindowsXP SP2 and
PsiWin. PsiWin continues to work perfectly well with my SP2ed WindowsXP.

Subject: looking for a wireless pc card for 7book
Hi,
I am interested in trying out wireless networking with my psion 7book (possibly
doubling as a linux-driven SargeBook!). Most of the cards mentioned on
http://www.epocfaq.co.uk/faqNetworks.htm#LANcompat
are hedged around with warnings about only buying an older version of the card
with the older chipset. I don't seem to have been able to find any examples of
these on the web - or at least where sufficient information is included to
determine whether it is a newer or older chipset that is for sale.
Can anyone recommend where in the UK I can get a card that is known to work
with the psion? Alternatively, it occured to me that if I was very lucky
someone on the digest who had moved on to Symbian or upgraded to 802.11g might
have an no longer wanted card, known to work, that they might be prepared to
donate or sell on to me for a reasonable price. This could save me all sorts of
time and trouble having to explain to shop assistants and telephone sales people
why I want a particular version of a branded card they perhaps no longer stock.
I would alternatively, if I can no longer get hold of the wireless card, be
interested in a wired ethernet card known to work with the Psion
series7/netbook.
Best regards,
Ian

Hi Itamar and all,
my Bluetooth Keyboard is made by 'Think Outside' and is called the 'Stowaway'
keyboard.
I bought mine from Expansys.com
Forget Infra Red keyboards, Bluetooth means comfort of use and versatility.
I emailled their technical support to thank them for the updated driver and
they told me that there will be a major driver file update ready for download
from their website by the end of November.
Talking of great Symbian websites, surf along to www.allaboutsymbian.com and
check out Steve Litchfields feature on freeware for the UIQ series of phones. I
especially liked the free ebook reader that lets you read 'Landscape' rather
than just portrait.
It is a 'tease' of how good the p800/p900/p910 could be as a palmtop with a
landscape display driver.

Mike Dyer.

Subject: Worldmate & Globetrotter
These are both similar programs that will give you a wealth of information,
specially useful for frequent travelers and people working with different
currencies.
The program will give you first of all the time and weather situation for up to
5 cities on the same screen. Tap on one of the cities and you will also get a
5-day weather forecast as well as some other information about the city. They
both have currency programs to convert from one to the other with the function
to update the rates on the net. Worldmate can be set to update automatically,
Globetrotter cannot. Further they have conversion programs included as well as
other information.
Globetrotter needs the AppForge booster which comes with it. They are both
shareware, but if you are traveling a lot or need to know times in different
parts of the world these programs are absolute great to have for little money. Personally
I think Worldmate is slightly better finished off with a row of icons at the
bottom while with Globetrotter you have to choose from a pop-up menu that
disappears again if you are not fast enough with your choice.

Re.: XP update and PsiWin - Is this the SP2 update or a new update of Windows
XP ? The SP2 did not have any adverse effects on my Psiwin connection at
home or work.

Re.: QWERTY keyboard - Do you remember the old typewriters jamming ? You
had 4, 5 or 6 letters all stuck and intertwined and it was difficult to put it
right again and you would always get dirty hands, ie washing your hands before
continueing your work. I am only 51 years old, but remember it well, I learnt
to type that way at Business School, just before the IBM ball started to get
into general use.

Re.: UIQ Phones - I am not sure there are that many UIQ phone users as yet in
this forum, but we are here ! <G> On the P910 when dialing with the
flap open you first have to tap on the loudspeaker icon, and than tick again on
the square next to "Speaker phone" to activate the speaker. IMHO they
should have allowed this to be done by one tick only. Furthermore, for each
call you have to do this again, you cannot set it to continue to be in speaker
mode. Of course a solution is instead to press on the little button pushed in
by the flap and release it again, which works as if you opened the flap
<G>. Thanks for the answers re. keyboard, in the meantime I am not (yet)
ready to ditch my mBook and don't see the need to get it, but it is certainly
interesting for future reference.
