Anthony:
I saw the same thing on ebay. I actually corresponded with some of the sellers
(who post different names and different addresses, but seem to be the same) and
they would not accept a pay pal payment. They wanted me to send them cash
through Western Union and then they would ship the phone from Italy. When I
complained about sending cash, they simply said "take it or leave it"
My take is that at best they are stolen or "hot" merchandise. At worst
a scam in which you lose your hard earned money.

Manuel

To: Antony Booth et al:
I bid on a Nokia 9500 about 2 months ago and one was "reserved" for
me but the date came and went and they properly refunded my money. However,
I think it might have been a scam in that they get to have your money in their
account and get bank interest for the 6 or 8 weeks. The one I bid on was
the ONLY one among about 70 that looked like obvious scams. I would say
that 99% of the eBay Nokia 9500 ads are fraudulent. I was lucky. Consider
this--if Nokia hasn't even released the phones yet then how could they be
available from these eBayers? Beware !

To Cathy,
I use EPlayM available from http://www.geocities.com/zavorine/epoc/mp3.htm.
I convert files from CD using a CD Extractor that converts directly to MP3. I
set the bits (size and quality of output file) to 80bit/sec to keep the file
size down without loosing so much quality. The application I use on the
PC is CDex (I am using Version 1.40, current version is 1.51)
http://www.cdex.n3.net and it is donation ware!
Ideally you would be using broadband, however, you could try it - using Sound
Recorder you may be able to get something - just remember if you have a
microphone attached to your PC to turn it off (mute) in the Volume settings.
To Christopher,
I have a netBook with a Buffalo WiFi card installed and nFTP which comes
standard with the latest netBook OS build (158). You will need to set up
an FTP server on your PC for nFTP to connect to. I use Quick 'n Easy FTP
Server (I use Version 2.2 but there is a more recent one) as it is free -
http://www.pablovandermeer.nl/downloads.html. I have set up a user ID and
Password combination in the Server and locked it down to the IP address that my
netBook has - this is to ensure some security as the server needs to be
running - mine is running all the time so I just fire up the Psion!
I also have an external Firewall (built in to my wireless ADSL router) that
wont let FTP traffic in from outside. Since my Psion is connecting
through the Router it can see the IP address of my PC and make the connection
without using any firewall rules.
However, when I can get a working CF adaptor for my PC (Having problems due to
USB 2 and drivers) I will also use that route to transfer files at an even
faster rate.

David

Subject: Re: wireless pc card for 7book
Hi Ian,
I have also heard that the Series 7 doesn't work for wireless. I have a
Netbook and a 7book. I am using the Buffalo card and it works great with
my HP Notebook, but I have never got it to work with either of my Psions.
I am not sure if it's a hardware thing or an operator malfunction. :o).
I sure would like to get one of my Psions to work wireless as they are so much
smaller and easier to use.
Thanks,
Bob

Dear subscribers,
for your convenience we changed the form of archive. At top of each digest now
is a link to the previous digest, at bottom is a link to the next digest. Besides
this you can now search in the topics and find a certain digest. Check the
address http://www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/index.html
Does this mean one can search the archive for a specific topic? That
woud be very handy. I followed the link to the archive, and
couldn't
figure out what to do to search for a topic. Does one download
'Database 9 <http://www.psioneering.co.uk/digests/database9.zip> for
Searching on a Psion (zip file)' and use that to conduct a search? I
could use a brief lesson on how to use the archive, since I've no clue
as to where to list within a list of Digest numbers.

Subject: UIQ Stuff
Hi all,
I've been trying 'Agile Messenger' it's a freeware instant messenger client for
UIQ phones. I read about it at allaboutsymbian.com
It works brilliant and is cheap on GPRS, I'm never going to get any work done
now!.
As an aside , in UIQ wouldn't it be nice if the clock icon actually told the
time ?
I can't believe you can't log birthdays no sense , I never noticed this before
.
Overall though (with a bluetooth keyboard) what a wonderful machine .
I am well impressed .

Antony,
I would rather that you didn't put words in my mouth, particularly inflammatory
ones, since I don't wish to start (another) flamewar :-(
Some time ago I lost interest in being part of *any* multi-page discussions
(for various reasons), and therefore my comment was partly an attempt to
suggest that *anyone* replying on that (often strongly felt) topic to please
keep it short.
That is all I have to say on this subject.

Oh dear, is my memory getting that bad already? :)

Subject: Bleeding edge releases of TubeRoute & FastBackup
You can now get frequent "bleeding edge" releases of both TubeRoute
& FastBackup. These releases are UNTESTED, and so WILL CONTAIN BUGS,
but they also contain improvements over the last official release.
You can find out about new bleeding edge releases on the Announcements section
of the FreEPOC Forum here:

>>This isn't particularly an EPOC problem. It's more because of the
non-universality of w-p file formats. EPOC Word is EPOC's w-p and it's
formatting is for printing first and foremost as are most w-p formats. As long
as the print drivers understand that formatting then it's fine in itself. Word
can export text files and nConvert, from Neuon, can also produce Rich Text
Format files. In practical terms that's probably enough for most
people.<<
I agree that the large variety of word processor formats is something of a
problem. However, something I find particularly stupid of Psion was the
decision to remove the Save as...RTF option that Psion Word had on the Series
3. This seemed especially odd when the S7 was being sold as a connected
anywhere emailing device, but with no built-in file converters; it's all very
well being able to send your hard work by email via a mobile phone, but it's
not much use if the recipient can't read what you've done. A nice idea, but
fatally flawed in my opinion. I could understand it if Word had never had this
option, but to deliberately remove it seems very strange.
Cheers, Ian.

Yes, that's right. But on the moment only digests from #601.

You should click on the picture with the astronomer. (Today I haven't access to
the psioneering server for unknown reasons, therefore I will tomorrow add the
string "Search The Digest" for clarity)
