Subject: Netbook Dialling France vs The Rest of the World <<<<<...problem is that when I change countries I get an extra zero for numbers in France (my original home country).
For example a Paris number that starts 01XXXXXXXX dials fine when in France but when I am on holidays in Sydney the zero won't go away. There are no optional area codes in France, so in Dialling location I have +33 [Area] 1234567 sample number 01234567.>>>>

Hi Jennifer,
- nB lacks the french "regional" numbers (1 up to 5)
you may add them in "World" in each "city" Edit/Change city details /Area code.
- also add "0" as "National prefix" in "Edit/ Change country details"
- then go in " Dialling"; set ""country" to the one you usually dial from
and "Edit" each location (home, work, mobile, card...) so as the "0" introduces *all by itself* (by one "Enter" alone in the adhoc "area code" (don't ask why;-)
- Then back in "World", delete the "0" you just introduced in Edit/change country detail/National prefix so as to leave this slot empty (don't ask why;-)
- When away from "Home" set in "World" the city your are near as the "Base".
- last but not least edit all your data-contact phone french numbers as follows:
+33(0)AXXXXXXXX
Happy diallings
Jack

Re.: Dimensions Revo vs 9500 - As to your comment about the 9500 being like a "fridge", hence my combination "solution" of the P910 with a mBook. The P910 functions as a "first stop" solution allowing me to react to emails and read incoming matters while on the road, and using the mBook at rest stops and in the evening in the hotel room. But ... it does mean two machines.

Re.: Netbook Dialling France - It could be (not sure) due to the lack of an area code. did you try and put in part of the phone number as an area code and dial +33 [0123] 4567 ?

Subject: major new release of TubeRoute
Hello all,
I am pleased to announce that the second FreEpoc release of TubeRoute is available from http://www.freepoc.org/viewapp.php?id=60
It is a major update - please read it's web page for more details.
Also, I have added a database for Kuala Lumpur, so that TubeRoute now supports 7 cities. I hope that the much improved database creation interface will spur other users to make even more!

Subject: Re: More on Rechargeable Batteries, Dimensions Revo vs 9500
Hi all,
Re: rechargeable batteries, I think the Sony Clie SL-10 was the last pda made that could use ordinary batteries. I use mine for reference where camera-phones aren't allowed (at work) and get about 10 days useage from a pair of AAA NiMh's.
Re: Dimensions Revo vs 9500, really the 9500 is overkill for me as I have a Toshiba Libretto for serious mobile useage I just need a phone and pda combined, however as I cannot get on with text input on the SE p800 and hate having to carry round the bluetooth keyboard. I am currently trialling a Palmone Treo 600...
Although the keyboard is tiny on this it's surprising how fast you can enter text on it with a little practise, also the built in diary functions are awesome. It's not got all the bells and whistles of a p800 but seems very solid and businesslike if you just need a small phone and pda combined.
I've loaded up the copy of 'Documents To Go' that came free with my Clie, it is remarkable how powerful this application is and it keeps a fully syncronised copy on the desktop.
If I change my mind at the end of my 3 month trial (self imposed) I shall buy a 9500 although it is overkill for what I want, the days of me lining up infra red ports are firmly over, even if my phone will wind up large enough that my friends joke about having a fridge clipped to my belt ;)
Best Wishes,
Mike Dyer.

Subject: Netbook Battery
I purchased my netBook in the spring of 2001, I think, and a few months later bought a second battery and have been rotating them ever since. Now, one is showing signs of dying and I have begun looking for another. I downloaded the "Rebuilding a netbook's Lithium-Ion Battery" but after some effort at opening the dead one I realized that I wasn't up to it. Then I went to Psion's site and found that they are sellling netBook batteries at 153 GB Pounds! So I started cruising the Internet.
The "SitaShop" has them for $74 and I also came across "Laptops for Less" which had them for $39. So I ordered one. It arrived in good time but it didn't fit. The battery would slide almost all the way in but not far enough that the sliding catch would close and the battery would not connect. So back it has gone.
I am inclined to pay the extra and try SitaShop but I thought I would ask this knowlegeable group if they have any suggestions. I note that the battery that has died was rated at 1500 mah where the L-F-L battery said it would put out 1800 (if it had worked) and the rebuilding description mentions 2200. Obviously more is better. Any help will be appreciated.
