Subject: Ethernet connection for a Psion 5mx

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to use my psion with an Ethernet
network (dhcp enabled). I regularly use it with an IR-enabled mobile
phone (Nokia 6020) to pick up email but this can be costly when abroad
(due to the exorbitant mobile intl. costs) - often though hotel rooms
have a RJ45 for net access in them these days. Is there a way of
connecting the 5mx to this?

Cheers,
Kev

Yes, thanks Itamar, but of course I had tried that already!
Also - sorry I do not recall who pointed this out - that is a genuine Sandisk, bought from a large shop here in Brussels(FNAC Belgium): no eBay sometimes dubious stuff. But, as I said, no way to use loaded apps on that. Files copied to and from the card fine, though.
That issue has alas become moot right now, since my very much beloved, 2001-class, MC218 went on screen & keyboard coma again and I am limping along the house holding my 13.3" Macbook close to my heart, and a Palm + a SE dumbphone (synching fine with my Mac via BT) in my pockets.

Kind regards, Franco Cozzani

Occasionally, my Revo refuses to close. I can push it into the "closed" position, but there is a slight resistance, and it does not snap shut. If I remove the stylus, I can close it, but then the stylus will not go in after closing.
After a few retries, the problem vanishes, and it closes normally again.

Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong?

Re.: Tom Tom on O2 XDA - And itdoes work very well on myWM5 phone. I use it regularly and it get me everywhere without problems, reprograms the route whenever you go wrong. The only thing I don't understand, and that is still from the days of Route- and Streetplanner, the European maps work smoother than the UK one. In Europe when you make a turn the arrow smoothly moves with the turn and continues to move. With the UK map it stops and takes a few seconds to start moving again and than it moves a little while with short shocks before moving smoothly again. Did anyone else notice this ?  It was exactly the same with the Route- and Streetplanner already on my 5MX and onwards.

Re.: Agenda One - Thanks, I'll have a look at it.

Best regards,

} Yes, we would all like

} I would like to look ahead and use what is available today
} and tomorrow and not what was available years ago.

Shortly before Psion announced it was pulling out of the market, I had
decided to base my future computing on the EPOC platform.  I jumped from
DOS to EPOC, ignoring Windows.

I started programming on the 8k CBM PET 2001 using BASIC and MC (Machine
code) by typing in in Hex.  I'd done a bit on a college PDP 11, before.

I then advanced to a mixture of BASIC and ASSY on the CBM range and then
with 16 bit, on the Sirius 1, Apricot and then IBM.

When Windows arrived, I ignored it for as long as possible, but
eventually found Visual Basic was just typing in variable assignments
and all the fun went out of programming.  Commercial Windows programs
were generally poor compared with DOS & Unix, so I never moved over to
M$ Word and Office, although I had full versions for use as a dealer.

My plans are to use the EPOC emulator, if/when my stock of Psions
expires, to be able to continue pleasurable programming.
