You are so right about the 5mx. Its fate was a real blow to portable
computing. I still use mine (also after a Psionflexi repair) - but
more often I use my NetBook. The sad fact is that, as far as I know,
there is no way of "linking the 5mx to a Mac and to the internet".
Psion did not, alas, usefully cater for Macs. A NetBook however can
make the connection via wi-fi.

Re.: Dual SIM card - Sorry I can't be of assistance. Just wanted to remark that that is the problem with upgrading equipment these days, every time there is something else again that does not work as you were used to. Can't you find a second hand O2 exec ?
Best regards,
Itamar

Subject: Jewish New Year & Luach file
As every year I would like all Jewish subscribers, interested people and anyone feeling for it to wish them a happy new year (which is celebrated this Thursday and Friday).
This year I have been overloaded with work and did not yet create the usual Luach file for the new year. I will post a message in the digest as soon as It will be available.
Best regards,
Itamar

Re.: The last computer - I might be totally wrong burt I don't think that the 5MX is capable of a wireless connection. You will need for that a mBook or netBook with a wireless card. I use a netBook to write to the digest and send it out via a wireless card and my home wifi network. The screen is colour and larger than the 5MX and so is the keyboard. You can really type long reports on the netBook. If you don't need to put the 5MX in your pocket than try and get a netBook, you will be amazed and pull ot some more hairs ... if you have any left <BG>.
Best regards,
Itamar

This gadget is proof that good design is timeless... And that _too_ good design is not always sustainable... I still use it, as you say, when I have to take notes; and when I need a handy agenda, etc. I succeeded in transferring Contacts (some in Data) to my iBook. Notes-fields got lost though, so I keep checking for differences; the Mac-Adress-Book is a bit more primitive and Now Contact is unstable and clumsy. I transfer notes and texts by copying them to a CF then cleaning the garbage in any text-editor: I suppose someone could write some Macros for that. Since OS X, no more problems with the file-structure of CFs, but I haven't tried copying lots of files back and forth between the Mac and Psion. I could connect to the Internet with the Gold Card modem, but this is not confortable enough. So the MX5pro stays on my desk and comes along when I travel. A new version with a better screen, WiFi etc. and a faster processor might find a niche, probably not enough for today's hybrid market... If I was in this sort of business, I guess I would give it a try... Except there are certainly copyright-issues. Sth similar happens to FreeHand, the professional graphic software - and it does have a large customer base. It was the only serious competition to Illustrator and definitely more elegant. Adobe bought the package two years ago, including the personnel, and iced it. There was an outcry which didn't impress anyone. I still use it, until last year I even held workshops, it will be in use for a few years still. But that's about marketing, not aesthetics, and the marketing guys seem to be neither sentimental, nor value-driven.

>>I hope I am misreading you. Are you saying that sort does not exist in the paying version of QuickOffice's spreadsheet.
Nope. Mind you, I've rarely needed to auto-sort a spreadsheet. Qo is more designed for making changes to existing master documents without trashing the formatting and structure like most other mobile office apps do - including the Psion/Nokia 9500 etc.
>>I was astounded to discover that you can't paste cells and you can't cancel in the spreadsheet on the E61.
Yes, you can paste cells. On the E90/E61i, anyway. Ctrl-v etc. Cancel? Not sure what you mean!
>> But I refuse to believe that after dishing out some fifty dollars to Quickoffice, you can't sort your data. What is the point of a spreadsheet if you can't sort things into alphabetical or numerical order ?
Probably a deal breaker for you then. But many people use a spreadsheet in different ways 8-)
>>But on my friends E90,
you can clearly see the key marks on the screen- and yes these are from the keys and not from the finger prints/grease etc.
I'm sure Nokia are addressing this. Maybe a problem with production units.
