Subject: Faxing with Nokia 9500
Donald,
The faxing situation with the 9500 is not quite as bleak as advised by Chris.
1) It is possible to send documents (including images and tables) directly from the Word app by using the menu option Send via Fax rather than "Print as fax" from Psion 5mx or Windows.
2) It is possible to send sections of spreadsheets as a fax (including gridlines and formatting etc.) by using the messaging app.
a) Write a new message and select via fax
b) Insert an object -> select new sheet object
c) Copy the spreadsheet contents you want in the fax to the new sheet object d) Format, if required
3) It is also possible to copy and paste spreadsheet data into the messaging app. using tabs rather than grid lines and this works quite well
4) You can also insert sheets into a Word doc as outlined in 2 above and use send via fax
5) html pages can be loaded into the Web app and faxed by using Send via Fax
I have frequently used a number of the above methods.
It is also possible to receive faxes, but I am not able to do this on the Vodafone Ireland network even though it is possible on Vodafone UK. This problem was discussed on
http://my-symbian.com/forum_mobile/viewtopic.php?t=31391&highlight=faxearlier in the year.
Best wishes,
Martin O'Neill

I entered the Psion world with a 5ive, know nothing about the 3, so not interested. Maybe the Dutch Psion Collector would be interested.

Hi Itamar
For Java on Windows Mobile, try out IBM Websphere Everyplace Micro Environment! This is a development environment which ships with a mobile JVM.
The development environment itself is a time limited trial, however, the bundled mobile JVM seems to have no limitation at all.
You can find links here: http://www.mgmaps.com/weme/or go to the IBM website.
The only inconvenience I experienced (at least with the WM2003SE version) is that midlets cannot be launched the same way as native applications like with Symbian, you have to run some "Midlet Central" application and launch midlets from there.

Re.: check this out - Perhaps a begining - I suppose one of the differences with this new product is that it is a full fledged PC with all the functionality of a PC in the form and size of a netBook. Some will like that, others will not <G>.

Subject: Psion5 and Psion5MX Pro Infrared
I am trying to use the COMMS application to transfer several files from my Psion 5 to my Psion 5MX Pro.
This is not working and I note that the IR baud rate is fixed in the COMMS application and is 115Kb in
the 5 and only half that in the MX Pro.
Can anyone remember how to get the samr IR baud rate in both machines in that application.
Regards
John
