for Chris Hanley
Chris,
I look forward to seeing the public version of FastBackup in the near future as the Backup on the 9300i is very basic.

I am ecstatic about my new eee. Eventually I see it replacing my MBook (once I finish a book project which will complete sometime next year - too many files to move quickly or easily).
I find that although the MBook will go away, the 5mx (2 of them) will stay with me indefinitely for walking around PIM. I thought my Palm TX would replace the 5mx but I keep having them die on me - usually just after the warranty. The PIM on the Palm is almost as good at the 5mx but the machines aren't robust enough.
When I go mobile, I carry my 5mx in my pocket and my eee and my MBook in a shoulder bag (they are both small enough) along with manuscript and books. I feel a little silly but I always have the proper tool for what I am doing.
The Linux and the screen on the eee are fantastic. I have no regrets.

I too switched from one netBook to 2 other devices, being a 9300i and a small laptop (the EEE) and it is indeed nice to have (again) your most important stuff with you in a 9500 or 9300i. They cannot be really used as a mini-computer, because their keyboard is far too small.
