As many of you know I have been a Psion and Nokia Symabian guy for many years.  I still have a 9300 and a E62 and love them.  I would like an E71, but not sure it does a whole lot more than my E62 execpt Wifi and a camera and it has a smaller screen or an E90 which is out of my range of about $800 US.  The E71 looks like it does about the same for about half the price.  I am kind of leaning toward the E71.   I do also have an AT&T Tilt aka HTC 8925 and its ok but I am so used to Symbian ever since my N-Gage QD and I think it is much easier to use.  It just seems to me that when ever you want to get to some thing it is only a button or two away.  I am going to sell my AT&T Tilt, I have several leather cases, about $200 worth of programs installed, two car chargers, all the stuff that came with it including the original box.  I am including a 4gb Micro SD card.  Its has only been used for about three months as I have gone back to my two Symbian devices.  I would like to get $400 for it.  As it has extras worth another $300 or so. Could even work a trade for a Symbian device if it fits the bill if someone likes WM 6.1 better than Symbian.
Thanks,
Bobby

Hi Itamar

>>Can you really use the smallish keyboard and screen for longer working and spreadsheets or not really ?<<

I have used it for looking at spreadsheets, at 100% zoom I can see 15 rows down and 10 columns so no need to scroll too much. You do need good eyesight though because the fonts are quite small. At 130% zoom, there are 10 rows and 8 columns, but much more readable. The built-in Quickoffice is good for MS office users. Documents are saved by default as .xls. No more epoc format like 9300/9500. Good for Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Not sure what version Quickoffice is used but I havent had the need to upgrade to version 5.0 yet.

The keyboard is good enough for writing documents, email. I use my thumbs and probably type faster this way than on a regular keyboard since I cant touch type :) .

>>it looked like quite a nice machine, although still sized like a brick :-).<<

It has a very nice feel and build quality is excellent. I have had all the communicators since the beginning so am used to the size. It is slightly bigger than the 9300 (mainly thicker), but much smaller than the 9500. I carry it in my front trouser pocket.

>>Are you happy with it?<<

It is still quite new, but so far so good. I waited a long time since it used to cost about usd1000 in Hong Kong when it first came out but now is usd700, so I decided to buy it.
Web browsing with wifi (and gprs) works well. Can even watch youtube videos on the browser. A-GPS is also quite good, but the Nokia map for Hk is not. I will come to the Uk so will test out the London map. Battery life at full brightness lasts me 3 days with wifi browsing, texting, gps. I dont talk too much on my mobile. Maybe 4 to 5 calls per day, less than 3 mins each. Screen in bright sunlight is excellent.

>>does it fulfill your requirements ?<<

I still prefer to carry 2 machines, so I also use the iphone for audiobooks, videos, music. The E90 does that also but I find for multimedia the iphone is more suitable.

Will keep you updated as I get to know the phone more.

All best,
Dick

Re.: Nokia E90 - Hi Dick. Recently I noticed an add for the E90 at an airport I was walking through and it looked like quite a nice machine, although still sized like a brick :-).  Are you happy with it and does it fulfill your requirements ?  Can you really use the smallish keyboard and screen for longer working and spreadsheets or not really ?

Just would like to jump in here and that synching my Touch Dual with my pc running Xp works superbly well. I synch contacts, calendar, to-do and notes with Outlook. I just put the Htc in the desk cradle and forget it. All changes I do in Outlook are directly updated  on  the Htc.. While in the cradle I can also use Opera om the Htc and download things directly to it via the pc and its high speed broadband connection..

Hello all

To Itamar: well, well, I thought you had abandoned Symbian now you  have yr HTC... :-)

Myself I have read so many disillusioned reports on the E90 that I soon forgot about it: It would be interesting to learn, as you suggest, whether both hardware and software are now OK, and whether Nokia are not planning to abandon it shortly  or on the contrary equip it with tactile screen (a revisited 5MX being thus eventually available... ).

Greetings from Grenoble.
