OK, so the Google phone was launched today here in New York. Based on open source technology (runs Linux and the app environment is Java-based), this demo video looks a lot slicker than I thought it would:

The compass mode in Google Maps street view is amazing (the maps look much
better than on the iPhone too). Of course, all the apps intergrate with
Google really well, especially GMail and the Calendar. Web browser is
based on WebKit but it is not Chrome (apparently that might come later).
Price? $179
The (3G) data plans are $25 (limited) or $35 (all you can eat).
How convenient, my T-Mobile plan expires in November... looks like Im
gonna be buying a new phone... :-)

Subject: Google and T-Mobile Introduce Phone
Will this be an answer to an ex-Psion user's needs?
"In the latest of a string of challenges to Apple's popular iPhone, Google and T-Mobile on Tuesday introduced the first mobile phone powered by Google's Android software, which they hope will bring PC-like features to millions of cellphone users."
" "This is as good a computer as you had a few years ago," said Google's co-founder"
Did he use a Psion then?

This shouldn't normally be possible, because FastBackup tries to detect if a hard-reset has recently occured, and will question whether you really want to do a Backup in that case. This feature has been present since v02-Apr-2005 r6 of FastBackup. I wonder if you were using an older version?
---
No, Chris, I'm just using a very old version of my brain. I've simply got into the habit of clicking through the warning window (following a battery change).
I wasn't criticizing FastBackup in any way!
