Subject: Energizer Lithium AA batteries in a Psion 5mx

I thought that some list readers might be interested to learn that a set of Energizer Lithium batteries lasted for 40 hours and 50 minutes use in my Psion 5mx.  It used 2502mAh over that period and, for comparison, the 5mx was on mains power for 925 hours 22 min.  I inserted the batteries in mid-August and the 5mx is in daily use - quite a feat by any standard. However, the fall off appears to have been very rapid and I got no warning that the cells had fallen below minimal level - fortunately my backup battery was in good shape and I didn't lose any data apart from complete corruption of the folder on the CF card that was in use at the time.  This fall off may have been due to the fact that I had Citymaps open with GPS preference ticked and, even though the Psion was closed, I have previously suspected that it seems to continue full battery drain in such a state.  I am trying again with another set of lithium batteries but will avoid the possible GPS battery drain problem and will let the list know if the results are substantially different.
