Hi, Steve,

I use the netBook (with the extra 32MB RAM) and the orinoco WIFI card.
And I had these problems, too. For some reasons, SMTPauth didn't work,
Xmail neither. But I found something that enables mailing with the
netBook.
I found out that the (free) mail provider GMX allows to switch off the
SMTP AUTH and offer SMTP after POP mit IP-Check. You only have to
check mails and use "Send after Check" - works perfect. For that
reason I use a GMX mail adress, forward automatically all my other
accounts to this adress and can receive & send mails via GMX with my
netBook.

Now, I only wnder if GMX gives adresses to people not living
in .de/ .at/ .ch. But I hope there is also a GMX.uk!

Best,
mischa gerloff

*  I can receive emails and browse the web but I can't fathom out how to *  use the SMTP Auth program or set it up.

Hello Steve,

I use my nB for more then 5 years for almost all my email.
I don't use the SMTP Auth program, because I do it with the inbuild email program.

You can receive email and you can browse the web, so you have a good connection.
In my opinion there are possibly three problems.
Fist, make a mail, save it with (Crtl+S) it is now into the outbox, activate it and push the "send" button on the right.
Can you send the email?
If so, look under at point 2
If not look at point 1 and 3.

Look into your email settings
Menu - Tools - Account settings and then you account

Look at "Outgoing"
1 - do you have the right smtp address of you provider?
2 - put "Auto send on opening" on.

3 - Look in "Advance", "Outgoing" and set the SMTP port on
25

Success,
Regards,

Kees.
