# By the way, I think that sync'ing or backing up to an # internet server is unacceptable on three grounds:
# a) One has no idea what will happen to one's data.
# b) It's a serious infringement of one's contacts' privacy. If # I have an appointment, at a given place on a given date &
# time, with a senior executive of International Widgets, she ....
# if her name, address, e-mail and other personal
# details are made available on the net to any 14 year old
# hacker because those details are stored on a server owned by # some company which is a major target for such hackers.
I agree with this concern. For many years some have been concerned about the stealth methods of Micro$oft with their embedded code running without permission on ones Windows PC.
I'm now setting-up a new PC with XP and earlier today clicked on a link to e-mail a website owner. I expected Outlook 2002 (supplied with my FS-720 PDA) to open a new blank with the address filled, as it always has.
But IE7 opened a tab with the Googlemail log-on page. I can't overcome this unwanted intrusion.
I understand that the latest Garmin GPSrs open up advertising depending where you are. To do this the GPSr must be communicating via ones cellphone connection and giving ones location.
I'm now getting involved more with family tree research and find that the youngsters ideas of publishing everything about themselves on the web, almost unbelievable.
Having provided some family history to a relative; my father-in-law, wife and I were horrified to hear that it had been placed on a web based database.
They can have their database at risk of loss (being stolen & disappearing) but not mine.
I'm going off the internet!!!

Re.: HTC 75xx - Why can't you synchronise your emails on the phone with outlook on your PC (or MAC) and than back them up on your computer ? I used to do that but I don't use my phone for emails at all these days, I hate the very small screen for that and much too hard to write answers.

Re.: Luach file - I did not get around to creating my usual file with the Jewish date, festivals, weekly Torah reading portion etc. before the Jewish New Year. Instead I have today created a Luach file for the year 2009. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you a copy.
Best regards,
Itamar
