The only area for security concern that I'm aware of is that M$ Word documents retain deleted text and also store details of the user of the computer used to type the original document.
Retaining deleted text and sending to someone could be embarrassing!
I've also received an M$ Word document that the sender claimed was all his own work, but the originator name was available for all to see!
But nasty programs can read Word documents and extract private details, just as on any other M$ data file. MY EPOC Word password protected documents are safe, even on an infected Windows computer!
However, as my DOS word processor was vastly superior to M$ Word, I never used it. Now retired, I find the features of EPOC Word adequate. If I ever need more complex word-processing I can still use my old DOS word processor - Wordcraft.
To answer your question: I would convert it with PsiWin or send a plain text file.
