-Hello Everyone

I am a new subscriber because I have just been given a Psion 5mx as a
replacement for my very old Series 3a. What ten 10 programs should I install
on the 5mx and why do I need them?

Regards

I have tried out this program but the date extraction routine gives wrong dates with my Psion 5MX. Does anyone know how Psion encoded email date sent/received in the Mail files, The MailArc software multiplies the date in seconds it extracts by .065536 and adds 81184, It then adjusts for the days to 14th December 1997. This gives the wrong answer.
Can anyone save me a few hours of analysis!

Regards
John

Here is my answer already :

1/ Macro5 - an absolute must to handle all kind of tasks and functions automatically
2/ CronTab - to start programs any time you want without you even being around your
                    5MX
3/ Assistant - for more shortcuts
4/ Merlin - also for more shortcuts and other functions
5/ SysBack - to back up your system in case you need to do a hard reset
6/ ConvertPro - to convert temperatures, weights, etc.
7/ SmtpAuth - to send emails where authorisation is needed
8/ Monopoly - a great game
9/ ABP5 - a great program to keep track of your bank account
10/ Phoneman - to handle your SMS traffic on the 5MX instead of the phone

Furthermore I would also advice to download nconvert, StartUp, SafePlace, CleanIt, SimCity and Route- and Streetplanner, although the maps are somewhat outdated.
You might not find all the programs I mentioned as some were commercial programs. Ialso use Money a lot, a small bookkeeping program. A lot of the programs you will find on the website "www.pscience5.net" which is the best place to start your search.

Success.

Itamar
