Subject: Lithium batteries

Some short time ago, I posted about using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries in my 5mx PRO. I commented about how well they lasted.  For those who don't know, the PRO version consumes more current than the ROM based 5mx. Now a big caution.
Although they definitely do last much longer, they go flat very very quickly, such that I also reduced a new 2032 battery to flat. I now don't use a 5mx everyday, relying on a S7/netBook (which I rotate) which is used everyday.
A 5mx is only now used with EpocSync to have a portable copy of the S7. So although I found that when I checked the battery voltage fairly regularly, it was very much higher than Duracells, I was led into a false sense of security. Just switched it on to check the battery level and both AA and 2032 were completely flat and all of C: was lost.
Fortunately I have three backups. All files on the S7 C: drive plus the FastBackup set and the 5mx FastBackup set.
Problem was it's such a long time since I needed to restore, I'd forgotten how with FastBackup!  So had to copy  and paste.
I think it's time to rotate the 5mx PRO with one of the 5mx in store. And buy more 2032s.
Alan.

John, there must be 2 different versions, one for Series 5, and one
for Series 5mx. The big difference between the 2 versions is as you
have found, the way the date is extracted, as the 2 different psion
mail systems display the date differently. (we use SaveMail not MailArc by the way)
