Subject: EPOC Entertainer 15
Hello everyone!
EPOC Entertainer 15, the February issue, is now available from its home at the URL below. EPOC Entertainer is a magazine leaflet about games for the EPOC32 platform. Computers covered include the Oregon Scientific Osaris, the Psion Revo/Revo Plus and Diamond Mako, the Psion Series 5, 5mx and 5mx Pro, the Ericsson MC218, the Geofox One, and the Psion Series 7 and netBook. The magazine leaflet is published monthly in PDF format, as an A5 leaflet to be printed on both sides of A4 paper.
In this month's issue, there is another In the Spotlight article, this time about Ben Vaughan, and there are two reviews: TankWar by Jonas Bark and Atome5 by Gérard Millet. Also, the programming tutorial The Small Screen continues. As usual, downloads related to this month's reviews are available at the web site.

Alan,
if your 5mxPro sits around for weeks unused, you could do as I do:
Store it attached to a power supply. Now your expensive lithium batteris will last you for months, probably even years. In fact, you could use alkalines as well.
I have two spare machines (both with power supply), one on each floor, used mainly as phone books and calendars (read-only). The lids are always open - no wear on the delicate screen cable. They are regularly EPOC-synced with my everyday machine. They have AA and 2032 as "backup" cells.
My old S5 (also with pwr supply) is permanently connected with an electronic multimeter running my program DMMtr5 for automated measurements whenever needed.
As pwr supply you can use the cheap multi-voltage general purpose supplies, but the voltage must be regulated (6V). You may fasten the voltage selector with tape that it is not set to 12V or more by accident. One of the delivered plugs fits well into my machines.
In my everyday machine I use Ansmann 2100mAh maxE rechargeables. They have very little self discharge rates and last for many weeks (I use a pwr supply most of the day in the office).
With this scheme my battery costs dropped significantly.
With greetings from Germany
Ulrich Hornstein

Subject: 5mx sought
The case on my 5mx broke many weeks ago, with the result that the keyboard and screen won't position correctly and the machine is unusable, though electronically it's fine. So I live life on my MalayBook currently - as well as my Nokia 9300i, which is bloody but unbowed, after being crunched in my car door, not once but twice. (I'm also trying to get the hang of an HTC Touch Diamond donated to me by my daughter - but after initial excitement I'm beginning to see why she gave it away. Windows Mobile is driving me nuts.)
I've been looking for a replacement 5mx on eBay. I don't want any accessories - I've got more than I need. And I don't care about cosmetics as long as the screen and keyboard are good (and screen cable, of course). I'm reluctant to pay more than £50, since I can foresee the day I move on to a successor - but most of the things that come up on eBay are described as pristine and come boxed with all accessories (is there a secret factory somewhere still making 5mxes?) and start at £75.
I should have put up a shout on this list earlier. I'm in England, by the way.
I'm also contemplating a Revo or Revo Plus - of which I have no experience whatever. Does anyone have any opinions about the experience of moving from a 5mx to a Revo?
Cheers
Chris
