Hi, Alan,
I followed that EEE/Emulator thread as well, and did get Emulator running on my EEE 900. I agree: it's a disappointment that third-party apps (nconvert, for example) won't run.
However, I do not have that troublesome icon to which you refer. My Emulator restores itself w/o problem. I wonder if that's b/c of the different screen sizes of the 700 and 900. I also am running the Emulator in Puppy Linux 4.1.2 (which I highly recommend for the EEE), so that may account for my restore success.
I've gotten IR to work in Puppy with a IR_USB adapter and IROBEX working on both my Mako and Puppy. I do a primitive one-way sync, sending Agenda and Contacts files to /root, then dropping them into their respective directories within Wine.
Wait, there's more :) B/c nconvert's a bust on Emulator, I have installed PsiWin 2.3.3 on Wine. Granted, I've essentially installed a 30+ mb program just to get to the Word converters, but the converters, coupled with IROBEX, allows ER5 and Linux to exchange docs.
Emulator is my only PM on Puppy. If you do decide to play with Puppy and run into Psion difficulties, let me know.

Re.: symbian-powered netbook? Why don't you converft one of your 7 books to a netBook by purchasing the different chip needed for that ? I think you could than use wifi on your new netBook as well just like with the normal netBook (please someone correct me if I am wrong).
Best regards,
