So, i tried a GigaWare adapter cable from Radio Shack, couldn't get it to work. Was confused by the com port issue. Did load the driver that came with the cable. No dice. Has anyone used a GigaWare cable successfully?
I see in past posts to this forum, the cable from CLOVE in UK seems to work. And I think Keith used a Siig? Anyway, please direct me to the right cable and if you have patience, a little tutoring on it's install couldn't hurt... (of course this issue started when I recently had to replace my PC, new one [still running XP] has no serial port)
Thanks, digesters! Hope this post hasn't been too hard for you to digest.

>>Why don't you converft one of your 7 books to a netBook by purchasing
the different chip needed for that ? I think you could than use wifi on
your new netBook as well just like with the normal netBook (please someone
correct me if I am wrong).<<
There is a chance that this may NOT work, as the main (only) circuit-board
of a Series 7 was not *guaranteed* to be able to drive a WiFi card
(something to do with the amount of power available to the PCMCIA socket).
I actually bought a good value netbook to replace my 7 when we first
installed a WiFi network at home. I have since bought a netbook module for
my 7, but never got around to trying it with a WiFi card; I will test it
on my home network, and let you know the results...
