Hi, Brian, please see PM. A report might interest everybody :-)

... I guess when you reset it it goes back to default, which is what you describe. My 5MXpro updates its battery status without a reset:
go to battery status and leave it on screen (battery status: low)
close lid (Psion goes off) or turn it off (fn-esc)
change batteries, turn it on, check battery status: I can actually see the line progressing from "low" (as it was prior to closing it) to (almost) "full" (--my rechargeables rarely show "full" status I have 2700 MaH and none of my no-really-cheap-chargers fill them up to max, for reasons I don't understand).
A reset was never necessary for me.
Hope this brings a little light.
And a question to all Mac users: what are your most recent experiences w. Psion and Mac? Leopard, data conversion, running Psion software under Parallels, USB-to-rs232 cable or bette solutions, transferring Data-data banks in some useful Mac format?

I blogged about it the other day, with a screenshot:
http://blog.garethjmsaunders.co.uk/archives/2009/03/10/psiwin-233-under-windows-7-ultimate/I installed PsiWin 2.3.3 using the RS232 serial cable directly into a serial COM port, and connected both a Series 5mx and Series 7 with netBook personality module (the so-called '7Book') successfully.
