Subject: Data Export

Damian Walker responded

"If you select a subset of records using the "Find:" feature, then "Export as text file..." will only export those records that appear in the list. To export one record, you need to search on something that's unique to that record."

I can't believe Damian, that after many, many, many ................... years & much more many times I've asked (via all fourms)if it was possible for a single or multi records from one data file be transfer to an another data file, and u had the answer all this time IT WORKS GREAT :) I've even spoken to u personally from NY USA better late than never I suppose!

Every time a new method of data transfer is discovered it brings new life to my PSIONs
LONG LIVE PSION!

Im glad I asked the question any thanks this is great

however the 2nd part of the question is the most difficult once a database is sorted on a find for something eg "Tom" then a list of all tasks or activities with "Tom" appears
now as you go through each one to edit them the problem is after each edit the database defaults to the "baseline state" ie as if you had not performed a find function anyone have a solution for this?

Gen5 is a genealogy program for Series 5 Psions, but it seems to be abandonware. If its author, Michel Catton, is still around and will make himself known, I'll gladly buy the registration.

In the meantime, I want to unlock the demo version it only holds records on 30 people, and my family's bigger than that ... Can anyone provide me with any registration codes?

My email address starts with chris-cooper, and then there's that<address truncated> thingie, and then there's ntlworld.com.

Thanks

Subject: Eee PC

I am asking for some advice with my Eee pc 900.  It really like it a lot and in most cases the Linux is transparent to most everyday things.  The biggest thing I am trying to do and I have asked here before and on the Asus forum. It might just be me not understanding the process.
I have a dvd drive to used with it.  On a Windows PC it tells you there is some new hardware.
On my Eee pc it doesn't say anything or even recognize the dvd drive.  The drive is suppose to work on Linux as well as Windows Machines.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get it to recognize my dvd drive please???

Having had Psions for years since my first Series 3, I have had no problem that I couldn't figure out.  But this one I have no idea.

Some on the forum gave me some big kind for formula or kind of script to used to get it to work but does anyone have an easier way to work it.

Thanks,
Bob

EPOC Entertainer 17, the April issue, is now available from its home at the URL below.  EPOC Entertainer is a magazine leaflet about games for the EPOC32 platform.  Computers covered include the Oregon Scientific Osaris, the Psion Revo/Revo Plus and Diamond Mako, the Psion Series 5, 5mx and 5mx Pro, the Ericsson MC218, the Geofox One, and the Psion Series 7 and netBook.  The magazine leaflet is published monthly in PDF format, as an A5 leaflet to be printed on both sides of A4 paper.

In this month's issue, there are two reviews: one of Palmscape's Jumpy! Plus by Jon Read, and another of Vincent Benner's Gasp.  Also, the programming tutorial The Small Screen comes to an end, with an article on using alternative graphics for each machine.  As usual, downloads related to this month's reviews are available at the web site.
