Todd,

I have a 5mx that you can have. I'm in London and leave for NYC on Sunday 3 May so we could have a problem to arrange delivery. Let me know.

I also have a Netbook if you're interested.

Stéphane,

I was of the same opinion until I saw and bought an ASUS Eee PC S101 (in London). I'm really pleased with it.

May I recommend that you look at (or wait for) this device that IMHO offers much better value than the VAIO P that I also looked at because all my other PCs are VAIOs. Be aware that the VAIO P runs Win Vista while the ASUS runs XP. This may not be an issue for you but it is for me.

I hope you find this useful.

Regards

Joseph

The Sony Vaio P is undoubtedly an excellent tool. But for my purposes,
it is still too large to carry with me on the offchance that I might
need it. It is also more powerful than my needs for a PDA, and
consequently far too expensive. I had hoped that Sony would expand the
capabilities of the PSP to include basic wordprocessing, diary,
database and spreadsheet, along with a keyboard suited to relatively
lengthy data entry. But it seems that is not to be.

Testing the Vye S41
I have bought one of these and got rid of the annoying vista to replace it with XP.  Their web page still doesn't have the drivers to download, but I managed to get one of their techs to send me the wifi driver, the graphics works ok with XP default and the sound can be got from WinXP updates.  The drivers "should" be on their website once it has been refreshed.
This is my second "Netbook" type device (not including the Psion original which is still my main device), the first being the Samsung Q1, but this drew my attention as both the keyboard, a webcam and especially the DVDRW were built in.  All these were my issues with the Q1.  The S41 feels much faster than the Q1 and there is more HDD capacity.  With XP installed it works as it should a mini computer that can do anything a bigger one can, just a bit slower...
My only issue with it is the average keyboard, which is easy to double hit keys, being cramped (standard "Netbook" size), but also the keys are close together with little space between.  Sony and others have managed to get around this with raised keys like the apple mac therefore there should be no reason other than cost to continue with poor keyboards.
The rotating screen has not had too much use, but it is useful for watching films on a cramped flight and also if using the device as a handheld either for web access of again for watching media.  The included buttons on the screen for use in tablet mode, are well thought out and work well.
If you need a small computer (once you get rid of Vista) that plays and burns DVDs, is good for everyday work, media use and keeping in touch, this is a very good option at a very good price.  I bought mine for travel, installed EPOC emulator to keep my Psion files with me, and have so far found it an excellent device.
Thanks

This has been on my task list for a couple of months now. My excuse? Five month-old twin boys!

However, I tried it out this evening and I'm delighted to report that I successfully connected to PsiWin 2.3.3 with my Psion Series 5mx using my USB-to-Serial adapter, using the Windows XP driver too, as there wasn't one for either Windows Vista or Windows 7 (obviously) on the CD-ROM.

You can see a couple of screenshots here:

I used the Videk USB-to-Serial adapter that I mention on my website:
http://www.garethjmsaunders.co.uk/psion/cables.html
I have two of these, labelled as models (or versions) D400 and D700.  I purposefully tried the older D400 and it worked fine, using the Windows XP driver, as I said above.

Good news!

Subject: Agenda and iCal

Is there a way to export Agenda data in iCal format?

The 'Organizer' diary app on RISC OS has been updated and one of the ways is to deal with import/export of iCal data. But as far as I can tell Psion Agenda (which I use daily) cannot export data in anything other than its own filetype.

Might there be a 3rd-party way to convert Agenda entries to iCal format? Or any other suggestions?

Brian
