Hi Chris,
I have a similar problem. After closing PsiWin I couldn't connect the Psion to the internet via MochaPPP.
So I wrote a small batch file, which I click for starting MochaPPP. May be it will be usefull for you, too.
The content of "Mocha.bat", which I put on the desktop, is:

TSKILL  Psconsv
TSKILL  Expdlg
TSKILL  Elogerr
TSKILL  Copyany
TSKILL  Wprntsvr
TSKILL  PRC32ENG
C:\Mppp\mppp.exe

The last line you should change according to the place, where your PsiWin program is located.

Rolf

I realized after I wrote my post that I'm almost never interested in the
timestamps on files, which gives people such a lot of hassle so my
experience will be irrelevant to them.

And regarding the full-backup problem the funny thing is that I don't
recall running into it, but I don't know why, so I can't be a lot of help!

On my venerable 9300i the Calendar is so hopelessly slow as to be unusable if I'm discussing scheduling a meeting with someone. But I can take the 9300i with me on occasions when I leave the bulky 5mx behind, so I'm using a combination of Nokia Calendar + Psion Agenda not ideal.

Handy Calendar doesn't seem to be available for Series 80 (ie, 9300i etc.) Can anyone recommend solutions for the 9300i? (Before I upgrade to the E71 r E72...)

I'd look at the HTC Touch Pro 2. It's got a keyboard closer to the 5mx (well 3mx anyway!) and the built in apps (office mobile) are very functional and in some ways better than the Psion ones.

I think the problem here is PsiWin not XP. PsiWin uses the actual date not universal date.

"I use my Psion 5mx all the time but since a Visa update about 4 or 5 months ago, I cannot get Psiwin to work, or even run on Vista to back up my trusty machine which now has a lot of important files on it that I am desperate to save!"

Hi there Nicky,
Have you tried right clicking on the Psion icon, selecting the Compatability tab, and setting it XP?  That can sometimes work.

All the best,

Much has been said about this Subject: 5mx/netbook Replacements

Well my fellow Psionist, I've taken the leap, and after much fiddling I must admit this iPhone is intense!
Ever since the release of the original series 5 I've been a loyal and faithful Psionier (really wasn't hard to do with the outstanding OS and
apps) from two 5s, two 5mxs, and two netbooks (always buy a good thing in pairs, Hope my wife doesn't read this) I knew it was going to have to be something special to make me leave my loyal and faithful servants.

iPhone I'm here, and I went all the way..
1st concern was to upgrade my Office suite from 2000 (which sync flawlessly with my psions) to Office suite 2007, and I say concern because of all the mix feedback about compatibility issues n psion sync well I'm using winXP/Office 2007 now and all is FINE, I repeat FINE!. All subfolders in Outlook/Contacts sync great to all my data contacts on my psion, and I have quite a few of them when it came time to do the sync with the iPhone I was impress, subfolders are called groups and Yes multiple data Contacts AWESOME all in it's own place syncing flawlessly netbook too! (netbook has always had trouble recognizing new contacts when copy/paste to a new database not the iPhone)

2nd concern Calendar well can't say much for that, and I've look long and hard at all the new devices compared to PSION, well everyone's going to have to bite the DUST here (I'm just not going to get into everything your going to miss here) "PSION AGENDA I'm going to miss you" You'll just have to take what u can get here folks Third party apps are useless if u can't sync with your office agenda with just one touch (over the air sync here and over the air sync their is not the same as just touching a sync button and everything going into your main place of operations that was for all u guys that want to debate what I've just announced) but the sync works great and flawlessly -n my psion still syncs great!

3rd concern was DOCs And this goes with all the new devices You're a FOOL if u think your going to be productive on any of these devices without TEMPLATES Get the doc right before putting it on your device so u r just entering in simple details, That being said QuickOffice for the iPhone is awesome guys, There's almost no limit to how u want your doc to look (Sheets Too) and sync these docs is kind of like psion just even easier The one thing I truly miss is being able to add a hand written signature to the end of a contract and just be able to fax that out or print I here that, that's probably on it's way.

CONNECTability AWESOME! In everyway ........... not even going to go there.

Now there are many things that I'm going to miss (I shouldn't say miss guys, for my netbook is long but forgotten it goes everywhere STILL!) I have to realize that I really just replaced my phone but the iPhone can never replace what I truly love about my netbook/5mx and that is mobiPocket ebooks (Yes they have their version but give me a break never needed to ware glasses until trying to do work on the iPhone) Word love epocs word abilities especially fine tuning a contract/invoice then faxing for a production/hard copy and even adding a hand written signature YES FAXING I was able to manipulate my old T68i account as a pay as u go plan and use it just for faxing nothing beats PSION FAXING ABILITIES and now with this new pay as u go plan it became even better (for all u guys that say email to fax is the same thing, The list of differences goes on forever ............ all the way to the BANK)

Sheets can't run my business without that cool little PDA sitting on the customers kitchen table poking and jabbing at the screen looking at their faces with amazement at this thing they never saw before especially not needing a source of power while their looking at details photos of our work zoom in on the iPhone (YES I let them hold and interact with the iPhone, it actually gets them more aroused in dealing with our firm) while I'm playing with something else they want to touch (Down Girls)

This is getting a little long I have a lot more to say but  I'll end with this That Psion and a iPhone make a pretty good team.

PEACE All
Donald
