Thomas,

Worry not! There are many out there who are already looking at ways to 'piggy-back' the current range of 'net'books to allow, shall we say, "more mature" platforms to continue into the Internet afterlife.

One such OS is RISC OS. Which headlined ARM chip development once-upon-a-time.

Here's a to some of the current attempts:

If RISC OS can do it with a small developer/hobbyist userbase, I'm sure Psionists can do so too.

Peter

I am following this topic with great interest and the work by Auda looks most interesting.

I still have a netBook and S7 still working and 3 batteries between them, but to be able to run the ER5 SDK on Windows has appeal.

I hate Windows and only use it for my GPS and photograph needs.  For all my important admin like letters, spreadsheets, ABP5 and databases; I jumped direct from DOS to EPOC.

Using various bought, freeware and my own OPL apps, I managed all my GPS track logs and waypoints on Psions.  But Garmin introduced USB connections and Plamtop dropped EPOC.

I can't find anything better than what I've had for 10 years on EPOC. So my well managed collections are no longer well managed on Windows.

I want to be able to get all this done using my OPL apps, some yet to be written.  Having EPOC on a Windows laptop in the vehicle, connected to GPSrs, ham radio and running mapping software; will be a big improvement.

Hi All,

I made a mistake and one of the CD's is actually TomTom Routeplanner for
a PDA, although on the more recent models it might not work anymore
[just found out that my new MDA Compact V running WM6.1 Professional
TomTom Navigator is not compatible with TomTom Navigator, not even with
version 7].

Anyone interested ?  Pls email to itamar<at>post.com

Best regards,

Itamar

Dear Digest friends,
thanks to the advices, tips and offers to SDK versions from you is my quest to get a "perfect netbook" emulator finished. I have now a good working emulator on my PC, which can emulate or simulate 100 % of the hardware features of the Netbook/Series 7, at least those I really wanted..

I found out that my version of the EPOC OPL SDK was an old one with some not updated featutures. Especially the toolbar.opo, the toolbar.opl and the Dptoolbar.opo files were not the latest and not complete adapted to the netbook type OPL features as having maximal 6 buttons in the
toolbar. As I wrote earlier I found self a fix for the toolbar source code, but the updated files in the SDK files from Alan Morris and Chris Handley gave me the best solution. To them and the others who reacted
and gave their thoughts (Auda, Thrygve and others) I am very gratefull.
By the way my problems with the couloured graphics were also solved by studying more of the (latest) OPL manuals.

May you all have long healthy lives with hopefully still working psions,

Jaap Laméris
