Thanks Bob,

With help available from you and Aj I feel confident that help will be available if I get in trouble.

Thank you - that's clear.

One more question.  Has anyone come up with a Palm hotsynch program for Linux?

Once I get myself comfortable with eeeBuntu, I plan to move onto Linux
with my desktop.  Will probably install a second hard drive for Linux
OS.

Steve,

I have now purchased four of these bargain Netbook Pro machines off eBay. I use them for both personal and business use. Some of the essential applications include:

Softmaker Office - http://www.softmaker.com/english/of_en.htmPocketPlan - http://www.twiddlebit.com/pocketplan.htmvxHpc - http://www.cam.com/vxhpc.htmlvxUtil - http://www.cam.com/vxutil_pers.htmlPocketPuTTY - http://www.pocketputty.net/Total Commander - http://www.ghisler.com/ce.htmTCPMP - http://picard.exceed.hu/tcpmp/test/PocketXpdf - http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net/RedGear - http://www.alpaxo.com/redgear/
You will need RedGear to run Opera 8.65, but even using the built-in Internet Explorer, it is possible to get Flash support working.

Skype requires a special hacked version and a compatible headset and the graphics don't display correctly, but it is just about usable.

If you want to be able to use WEP protected WiFi networks, you will need to buy a Cisco Aironet 350 PC Card, but these can be purchased new on eBay for around $10 if you wait patiently. You will also have to upgrade the firmware to the latest version (as detailed on the Pulster FAQ).

Finally, there are at least two Linux distributions that work on the Netbook Pro. One of which was developed by Psion (PsionLX) and was the basis for a new more powerful version of the Netbook Pro that never got released :-( It features Firefox and built-in support for PCL and Postscript printers. Best of all, you can dual boot between Windows CE.net and Linux. For further details on Linux distributions, visit:

Hope this helps and good luck!

Alastair
