Comparing a Psion with brand new hard- & software is imo irrelevant (and definitely irreverent ;-) Its characteristic footprint remains unequaled: I'd say no machine is being engineered today as near to feasability-limits as the MX5 was then. A while ago there was a thread here about what features each of us would like built into a Psion upgrade. A replacement is not yet here...
A happy 2010 to everybody,

What became of E90 ? I think it looked promising and awaited e g a touch screen update, but nothing have I heard of it. In the mean time Nokia has launched several other advanced products, with some flavour of the same, but with worse instead of better keyboard. Anything I have missed ?

While the market share may have declined, it's mainly due to marketing (or lack of) rather than capability. It's ahead of the other platforms in many respects including multi-tasking and customisation (just check xda-developers). Sort of reminds me of Psion in the days of Palm.

Usability, compatibility, formatting options, and in the case of Excel/Sheet the essential (to me) ability to have multiple sheets.

Just as functional for most purposes and well ahead in some ways such as arranging meetings.

Agreed, but for many it is.

I assume you are referring to Pocket IE, and think perhaps you haven't used the latest versions. Very functional, although I like the multiple tabs option of Opera better. Some sites that won't work with Opera are fine with Pocket IE.
BTW apologies for the multiple postings. Blueyonder servers were playing up.

Re.: Turn sound off on 9300i with OPL - HI Rolf, but all our Psions are "dead" machines but very much alive for all of us. I think Arjen answered in the same digest and might just find the time to help him out. I suppose that is the great thing of this digest, some 500 to 600 Psion enthousiasts still playing around with the hard- and software.
Best regards,

Re.: Seasonal greetings - Thanks for the message. However, a lot of us are today without almost any Psions and quite some time ago we decided to change the name to just "The Digest" in order to allow the discussing of all handheld types of computers. Maybe it is worthwhile to remember the subscribers of this point.
REMINDER : All handheld computers/phones can be discussed in this
digest, including HTC, Android, Palm, Iphone, latest models handhelds, etc. I am sure that all subscribers are particularly interested in those models that could/might be a good replacement of our old Psion equipment.
Accordingly, Kevin, stay around and continue to contribute !
Best regards,
Itamar
